Hey all,

I blew up my old gearbox and so i decided to replace the clutch.

I bought a lightened flywheel, 10' heavy duty clutch, pressure platem,

rollerbearing spigot bearing, new throwout bearing.

I have a real light pedal. Clutch fully bled. All assembled. I have the pedal

adjustment fully out to maxium travel. Still no clutch. The forks move

about 10mm or so. No free movement. I bought a new slave cylinder as

the old one sized.

I cannot get this working and as I have 2 kids I cannot afford to send it to

a mechanic. The car is on stands at the moment and i can start it in gear.

Its like the clutch wont disengage off the pressure plate.

The car is a 1988 Nissan Cefiro with an RB20DET.

Some one please help.

The slave should be moving the fork further then 10mm, you should not have to adjust the master. Logically after fitting a new slave one can only assume there is air in the system. Try bleeding it again.

It is common that masters shit themselves after having a new slave fitted, due to the old slave may have been a bit dribbly and leaked a little and now with the new slave holding pressure and not leaking it puts the old master under more stress due to there being no leaks in the slave but i dont think this is your problem because you say you have movement at the fork

If fork wasn't bent before, should not be bent now.

Keep bleeding it and if you get it working make sure you adjust the master back correctly.

it is possible that u've put the clutch plate in back to front or bent the diaphram fingers,

did the clutch and pressure plate come as a kit or did u buy them seperately

is the clutch plate bent? was the flywheel machine true?

also clutch forks can bend or your pivot ball has broken at the retainer

^^ check your pivot ball as above, if the clutch fork is really loose the end of the ball has snapped.

Sometimes it can take ages to bleed it completely free of air, so try again...

If no luck with either of these pull the box off and check if all again.
