imo, $20 entry was way too steep for a place like that with no seating etc etc, as above would be a great idea. i understand its all about getting tailem bend off the ground but imo $20 p/person is way too steep

yeah naa i agree, the $20 was abit steep but then again they probs had to hire all the toilets n the food vender's for the day.

the food there was better then mallala thats for sure!

i understand that seating and toilets is an issue.. its something thats being worked on.

the price is unlikely to change but i will bring it up when i speak with the organiser next.

heres a few vids.

yea the food shit all over mallala, if you like raw chicken burgers :P

i stuck to the steak, atleast if that was undercooked i wont be sittin on the toilet for a week.

i like my burgers without salmonella thanks :D

all in all i had a good day, just pump the dj next time! add to the atmosphere!

Yeah $20 entry per person... partner wasn't too happy after driving all the way. Spoke to a few drivers and they didnt like how the track had changed??? I personally think that the track is too short.

Maybe next time some brochures about whats happening and times can be given at entry? Got a bit confusing about what was going on lol

yeah i can understand that. however it was a day of drift format and as such was played very much by ear. when you say they didnt like how the track had changed what do you mean? it got changed for the big entry comp but that didnt work so it was changed back.

the Oct comp coming up with be a full comp layout with timetable of events etc

Overall was a good day, relaxed atmosphere and seemed to be drivers on the track 90% of the time meaning no long boring breaks etc. The only thing I would say though is I had no idea who was winning as it wasn't being announced, even the tandems I didn't know if they were battles or just displays etc (alot of people I spoke to thought the same). Looking forward to the next one though as it will only get better from here!

Where the cones where which indicated the end of the track..normally u keep drifting that around the bend, just what i was told. First time ive ever been to tailem bend.

I cant believe people are complaining about paying $20 to see a day of drifting :P I agree with Ryan though, I got there at about 1ish and had no idea what the cars were supposed to be doing out their.

Parts i liked.

How close we were to the action. Only at Tailem can you be right next to the cars at staging, and just being around them, was very relaxed, and didnt see any of the crowd annoying competitors.

DRIFT TRAINS! By far, the best part of the day.

$20 was quite reasonable for 9am-4pm of drifting.

Bring a seat, sit back and enjoy.

    • The NZ wiring kit is a 1/3 the price and will be perfectly fine for your application, I've ran one for 6+ years and many others have. Comes as a full plug into factory connector and the settings for a Link. https://www.nzwiring.com/index.php/product/trigger-kit/ Always comes back to the tuners knowledge and experience with a tuning platform. It takes years to become proficient and learning all aspects and capabilities. I've been using Links for 16 years now (rb and sr paltforms) and always learning something new with adding tables, diagnostics and data logging. Stay 98 for the usability and keep it simple so you can enjoy the car more. With experience I'll give you a current example of the industry I am in. They use Motec m190 and only use VE tuning when they have a torque mapping available and would solve the "PARITY" issues that plagues the category all because the muppet doing the tuning doesn't understand the platform or want to learn it and the product seller have no idea on its full capabilities ( I had a good laugh as when firing up an older car that just got completed and they didn't understand the injector scaling or how to change it for different fuel being used)
    • I'm sure there are specific hygrometers for it. But if you can just throw a high enough ranged temp sensor (theromcouple that came with your DMM, for example) into a pot of it on the BBQ, you can see when it boils.
    • I have multiple bottles in a shed that gets hot, and I'm in SEQ, so it's humid. Maybe we test their theory... Anyone have a system to accurately measure moisture content in oil?
    • Yeah, that and throwing away opened, part used, closed back up bottles has got to be bullshit. Brake fluid sits in not-very-well sealed master cylinder reservoirs for literal years and keeps working (albeit we know we should flush it every couple of years - it actually still works). Anything kept in a bottle in the shed with a tightly capped lid has got to be a million times better than what has been in the car for the same length of time.
    • Wait, they're claiming UNOPENED fluid has a shelf life of only 18 months?
