Hel Stainless Steel Braided Clutch Line Group Buy

Recommended Posts

I have no idea man. You got a link? I could never find whether it was a replacement of the whole line or just the rubber line. In theory though there is no need to replace the hard lines since they can't expand.

Too easy Ben, glad to see the QLD guys are getting them today.

Yeah I wasn't really sure on what the GTR line replaced since it was a different length than the GTST one. But I figured you GTR boys have some weird funky setup due to the AWD hence it being different :P

I think the GTST one replaces the block, but I shall soon see.

Well, I got one for my GTS-t, not the GTR..... Box is marked "suit 32 GTS-t" but I've been looking this morning and I'm mildly confused. lol

Let me know what you guys find?

Oh yeah that's right, you had a GTST kit, my bad :P

My mate has his engine out at the moment so i'll quickly dummy fit the clutch line from the master cylinder and see how it all fits.

So here is the clutch install on my mates GTST.

As you can see it replaces the entire factory setup :D

Here is the massive factory line removed.

For those kids keeping track of their cars diet here are the results:

Factory setup - 828g

New clutch line - 97g

Weight saving of 731g

Not bad ay :)

It's finished man, hence the pictures above of them fitted.

If I do one again i'll let you know.

Groovy!

My engine and box is out at the moment so I couldn't get a picture of it in my mind. That's a great weight saving! I'd spend an entire day trying to save that weight elsewhere :D

Yeah it's pretty decent. And in reality it would probably be closer to 800-900g because there would be less fluid used in the new clutch line compared to the amount that runs in the factory line

That looks awesome getting rid of all that factory crap lol will be much neater. Will have to put mine in on the weekend. Pics help alot

Thanks again Phil :)

Thanks guys.

I'm going to look into whether HEL would do some custom made braided lines to replace the four brake lines on the firewall (for ABS models) or two brake lines on the firewall (non ABS models) that go from the master cylinder.

No real "performance" benefit but I figured for the good prices we are getting these at it would be a nice looking mod in the engine bay :) I've seen a few pictures of guys that have done it and it looks quite good.

I'll let you guys know if some of you would be interested; I know one of my mates is very keen.

    • It's something we all have to consider as time marches on. Also consider lifted rally MX5 conversion at that point.
    • I should be fine for a few more years, whilst I do have arthritis I also exercise and do mobility training every day to keep as fit and healthy as I can, military life, which is the actual cause of most of my joint issues, has set daily regimes, which I weirdly enjoy I also train alot smarter now, not really focusing on lots strength or puffy muscles, I'm more focused on maintaining what I have for my future older self, I actually train as much mobility now as I do exercising Check out this "simple" drill I have been doing daily prior to training now for a while now, this has worked wonders in my all round mobility
    • I'd say one thing that may make you sell is the same reason the guy with the hard top roof sold his. He got old, and his back was giving him too much grief stopping him getting in and out... Old guy said he was 73! He looked and sounded younger than 73 to me! Or maybe I'm just aligning with old people more...
    • Already looked at a few prior to getting the MX5, really nice car, had all the mod cons, but I wasn't really sold on the new "look" I did miss my 2017 Limited, and I personally prefer the "look" of the older car over the new model, but, when pondering I kept going back looking at MX5's But it was same same for the new ND's, I wasn't sold on the new "look", especially the RF with its weird roof, which only half goes down, like a targa top sort of thing As I stated before, I did look at NC's, but the cars I looked at were PRHT's, but I didn't like their roof line "look" of the PRHT, until I saw the soft top version, (someone on SAU posted a for sale ad for one with a soft top that caught my attention, you can blame them for my choice.....🤣) and.... that old style detachable hard tops were available for them, which keeps the old MX5 more smoother flowing roof line, and the more rounded body style, similar to the NA-NB, to me, the arse end of the ND looks to "modern" Much like how I prefer the NC1 front bar, over the later models How long will I keep this car for is unknown, but currently, there's nothing else out there that "floats my boat" for a small, fun, little "sports car", that I can play with and enjoy looking at and driving But, who knows what the future holds, and going off current new car styling, if I replace it, it will be a older model something something
