Heat Sheilds And Turbo Life/perfomance

the stock heatsheild i guess is a bit more economic than a heat blanket that wraps around the turbo as the bottom of the turbo gets some air to it, so im just wondering, with either, do they have any affect on the heat of the turbo? we all know turbos run at a million degrees (give or take) will a heat blanket or stock heat sheild raise this temperature? as the turbo cant soak in any nearby cooler air to cool it down a bit?

the main question im asking is, what effect does a heat blanket have on a turbo, heat wise. will it shorten its life due to the extra heat on the turbo from the heatblanket keeping the heat in?

I have my dump pipe wrapped & it made a hell of a difference to the temps under my bonnet, time for me to get 1 of these beanies too I think.

I understand its best to keep the exhaust temps as high as possible to help flow all the way thru to the muffler. May be wrong there tho as I aint an engineer or well educated on flow dynamics

heat shield is just there to stop radiant heat from affecting everything else in the engine bay - hence its called a shield.

A beanie does essentially the same thing, and keeps heat in more obviously.

Using one will not cause adverse affects. - so once again, use the SEARCH function, or simply read the thread MintR33 linked.
