Hey guys,

A few weeks I put a thread up on here asking for some help in choosing the right size rim /wheel for my 260RS.

I ended up getting a set of 19" Enkei RP03's in SBC, I found a contact through another forum and the guy who imported these for me now has a website http://jdmwheelimports.com.au

The exact dimensions ended up 19X8.5 +22

Check out the Gallery from the link above for some photos I took after all the work was done. I was able to get rid of the spacers too and handling has improved dramatically - feels like a sedan now around the corners... I think I might need proper bucket seats now as the grip I'm getting now makes the corners quite savage on boost. Having the extra width and the fact they come right out to the edge of the guards has made a real difference.

Anyways, the who imports alot of these rims in is Matt... we would've sent some 30 emails back and forth and he ended up finding me a set from the US (nobody else could get these in SBC anywhere) they were also cheaper than any of the current Enkei rims in AUS. A real professional, for all the time he spent talking to me and his suppliers I would highly recommend anyone else looking for rims to talk to Matt. Total cost to me imported from the US was $2200... I think these rims were close to 1K each in SBC in AUS though they are a discontinued line now here.

I got my Kumho KU31's from option1garage.com.au (Brisbane based) speak to Storm.. he was great and they discounted heavily too.. a full set of 235/35's for a little over $800. Not bad when I've seen some traders selling these $480 a pop. This setup of rim and tyre has saved a fraction over 5kg's per wheel and I can feel the difference in acceleration off the mark.

The folks to put this all together were Nundah Tyre Plus... they are a new store and the managers name is Michael....they spent quite a bit of time on this job too as I was working out what my options were, they only charged $180 for a full balance and wheel alignment back and front and the reports they give you at the end was a nice touch. By far the best tyre place I've been too ever and I've been to a few that I wouldn't say squat about.

Anyways, been meaning to post something for a while as all the people I've given a plug too really did deserve it, if anyone around the area wants a no fuss all class service I wouldn't look past any of these guys. I've got more photos I'll get around to putting online so you can see some more angles on what has ended up being one of the best mods I've done to date.

Meh was just being lazy... :)

Here are some I just uploaded ...... I want to get lowered suss now though will wait and do some research to see whats best for an adjustable setup...

If anyone is wondering how the paint on an old 97 car came up so good... I just did a polish and gloss coat using Autoglym. That makes such a big difference on top of the pearl and clear coat that AUTECH put on these out of factory.

Hmmm I didn't know the Autech versions had special paint as well. Mine is the same colour as yours (as are most it seems).

    • A little follow up here on the ceramic coating.  We've had storms galore here and I've done a few ks, enough to gross them up  Consensus is that they didn't get as dirty as usual, the coating definitely repelled a little of the dirt and I think they kinda snowball. They get a little dirty and then they get dirty faster which makes sense. Cleaning them regularly would allow them to protect better.  Cleaning was a breeze. I tried first to just hose them off which, unsurprisingly, did nothing. But, making the wheels wet and then just wiping them over with a used but clean microfibre cloth was all that was required. I didn't need any cleaner at all, just water and a cloth. The wheels look amazing again.
    • Gave her a nice wash today and took extra time to clean off the tree sap and tar and crap. We have a usable garage now so she'll stay cleaner longer. Took a few snaps in some nice light afterwards.   
    • OK, solid mount Z1 diff brace is in, pretty straightforward, it picks up 3 diff hat bolts and ties them to 2 support bolts on the subframe. Pretty sure someone else on here said they had reduced axle tramp with this but mine was already pretty good for smooth wheelspin, and still is....will see you this goes over time and whether I end up with a broken rear diff hat
    • Ah yes, but the part in my hand was actually painted and fitted by me! I knew any front lip was likely to be sacrificial but I've had to fix it twice already... by the time I buy a fibreglass fixing kit, sort out sandpaper blocks, buy some fibreglass filler, body bog, spend the time and effort for a 'Greg' result... a new one being $290 seems like it's the better way to go and spray that with bedliner/raptor coat and we're all pretty again.. Would have preferred it last more than a month though. Them's the breaks I suppose.
    • I find it funny that the USA is finding out all this really really weird stuff, and people from the USA are coming here treating it like gospel, yet, all the info on solving those issues is here on these forums for the last 15 odd years... Also, I know how much heat it takes to ignite the hood lining of an R33 skyline. I worked it out myself... It also took a LOT of time, and heat for it to do it... Big single, and I needed to drive the car, so retarded the timing off to "protect it". Yeah, that was a bad move for cruising on a freeway with only 15 degrees of timing on it. That was a lesson I learned around 2009. So that's over 15 odd years ago. Aligning water and oil, that's identical for any turbo engine, it's not Japanese specific. If a shop doesn't know how to make sure the core is rotated the right way, then they shouldn't be touching any turbo engine. That's not a matter of "We haven't had Skylines for that long here"...
