hey Guys,

I bought Pirelli Pzero Corsa semi-slick tyres off ebay a few days ago. Now the tyres were manufactured the year 2005. Is it true that if tyres are stored 6 years after the manufacture date they are thrown away?

thanks

Ebay is probably not the best place for tyres :D

I bought off option1garage last time, shipping wasn't too expensive and cheap prices. Otherwise there will be plenty of local tyre shop's in your state..

This is true to a certain extent... It all depends on how the tyres have been warehoused/stored over the last 5 years.

Car tyres are made with oils, carbon and chemicals in the tread and casing, over time these additives can leach out or dry up within the layers of the tyre. There is also the possibility that if the tyres were not kept away from moisture when they were warehoused, the steel belts inside the case may have started to rust.

In your case this issue could be especially bad because the tyres are semi-slicks which are obviously meant to be used for "stress driving" and your car is a fairly powerful machine which puts even more stress on them... My personal opinion would be to not use them simply because you don't know what condition they are in internally, try to get a return for credit or get your money back and go to your local tyre shop to buy tyres that are at least under 3 years old.

I hope this helps :D

i would not put 5 year old tyres on my car if you paid me. nuh-uh, no way, you've got to be joking. if you turned up to a track day and told me you bought 5 year old tyres off ebay i would not join your session.

yeah sorry, bit late now, but 5 year old semis will not be any good, even if they have been stored well over that time.

And BTW p zero corsa are in the lower performing, higher price area where you probably don't want to be buying unless you have to (eg available sizes)

dude keep them, its a great deal IMO

Ive got the same tyre, same deal, old stock same year.

Im very happy with them, and will be completely happy to track them at mallala

have the utmost confidence in them at this stage due to being manufactured by Pirelli as a topshelf tyre
