Hey ppl,

I am needing some help on how to paint the interior of my 33 (surrounding the dash). What paint do i use, how do i do it, preparation etc.

Any help will be awesome, Cheers.

if you want to paint your dash fascia then youll need the following

plastic primer

desired colour of acrylic paint

clear gloss (if you want a glossy finish)(recommended to protect paint)

any minor sand paper such as 800-1500 grit, id go 1200

keep your primer and colour brands the same if you can

-once you get the rubber film off give the whole fascia a sand ALL OVER the fascia, and when i mean all over i mean every single spot that will be painted other wise the primer may not stick properly and may orange peel up.

MAKE SURE NO RUBBER BITS ARE ANYWHERE

-once sanded give it a wipe with wax and grease remover

-spray with plastic primer slowly, keeping an eye on sections that dont stick properly, if all sticks fine, just give it a couple of layers to make sure every bit of plastic is covered.

-let primer dry

-apply paint, dont spray to much on at a time, do a thin layer every time, you dont need the desired coverage straight away (aka dont sit there spraying one spot) keep applying layers till the full colour is present and no plastic is showing from beneath.

-apply clear gloss the same as you did with the colour, except you wont need as much, but the more you put on the "deeper" the colour will look, and remember, dont apply to much in the same spot to quickly as it may run, you dont want this.

depending on the weather, it might be hard to get a glossy finish, if its hotter, the gloss will dry quicker and less glossy, so i recommend spraying on a cooler day, under 20c.

never spray when raining.

never spray after its been raining.

only spray when outside is completely dry, wait a couple of days if it has rained.

since its your first time, be prepared to screw up and start over., plastic IS NOT easy to work with.

and last but not lease

PREPARATION PREPARATION PREPARATION

if your un-confident with the preparation, give it another sand, or wax and grease wipe to be safe
