I had a mongoose m80 fitted today to my r33 Gtr. The unit has a turbo timer feature that sometimes doesn't work. I mean it just turns of the car without a two minute delay?

Also the front torque tacho started playing up. I never saw it play up before, the needle was reading 50% when I was stationary on the lights?? Could it be from the alarm instal?

What do you think? Maybe the alarm fitter got his wires crossed?

The M80 will only run the engine provided your doors are still closed when turning off the ignition, maybe you had a door open when you tried it. As for the tacho I would give the installer the oportunity to have a look at it.

Got the same alarm waiting to be fitted

You don't need to worry mate the Mongoose alarm is not the cause of the tacho problem, it will be a loose connection or something simple I guess. As long as the installer makes good solid soldered connections and even makes sure to solder even the earth terminals after crimpimg and terminates direct to body. Most issues that happen after a car alarm is fitted is usually due to poor connections of other fitted aftermarket components that were there prior to the alarm being fitted. All it takes is for an alarm fitter to unknowingly bump one of these connections while running wires for the alarm and then soon after you see a problem arise.

Cheers,

you should think yourself lucky! i had an autobarn install mine as its the only place i could get into at the time and they managed to drill holes, f**k door lock servo's and not protect wiring from rubbing through which resulted in a small fire and a dead computer. If i ever have my time again, i would pay to go see mr rogers, even if i have to drive 2000k+ to see him. Pay for what you get!

free plugs ftw

i have the same alarm and seem to get the same issues with the turbo timer... has a mind off its own... doesnt want to work some times...

i have to let the turbos cool down myself before turning the car off :S

Never seen the problem here and have done quite a few of them. The Autowatch 446 Premium is alot more stable as I have done hundreds of these and into trucks as well and they have never missed a beat.

    • For a daily just run Akebono ceramic pads. That's what they're optimized for. Obviously don't try to run it on track or anything like that.
    • Hey all, I'm sorry if this has been discussed before.  I have a 2008 Japanese import V36 coupe with nav but without Bose. I bought one of those AliExpress android screens, which for the most part works really well.  The only thing that doesn't work is the air con controls (well sort of) and the factory reverse camera.  The AC can be controlled fine but it doesn't report the change in temp and mode to the screen, and the volume knob/other audio controls from the panel don't register on the learning app.  I am pretty certain that the problem is the difference in the head unit between base model (Nav but no Bose) 2007-2009 coupes and anything after 2009.  Mine is the one with the blue connector all the way to the right as seen in this forum post:  The reason I think this is there is one wire left over that doesn't fit anywhere on this head unit, or in the factory screen which also uses different connectors to more recent versions.  I've seen the upgrade from OWC, and have sent the guy a message on eBay but no response yet.  I also don't particularly need the whole kit, just *maybe* an adapter for this one cable.  Did anyone else here have the same problem, or have any insight about what I can do to get this working?  I have been in contact with the seller but all they seem to be able to do is ask for more pictures and videos. Minor edit to add:  I have been researching and found a screen on Aliexpress that actually specifies my head unit in the listing, so these things do exist.  I will contact the seller to see if the wiring adapters are interchangeable with other screens.   Thanks in advance!
