i recon the roof racks are a better thing, just for the reason if someone hits you in the rear, you not only have a damaged car, but the bike is also gone and sometimes not covered by insurance. ill be making special mounts for my trike in the coming months for the roof option :)

umm dont you have a Stag?

Push the back seats down , take the front wheel off and whack it in the back.

Hehehehe too true... but add 2 kids, 2 baby seats, and a ridgeback dog and a subwoofer...

Now fold the seats down?? - squash the kids... let the dog run through the car... and jam the bike handle bars through the sub???

:P

good idea :)

Or get roof racks....

infiltrator - I agree with the tow bar though...

I am wanting to cart around my new Bike and i was wondering what others have done. What route to go?

Towbar with bike attachment

or

Roof Racks??

Any input would be good

+1 for tow bar and bike rack.

I've got a bar that didn't require any cutting on my other car and an EziGrip rack for two bikes, they rock.

noo, don't damage the sub! :)

I'd personally go for a towbar and bike rack, as the towbar allows you to use a trailer as well if you ever need to. However, it's a good point that was mentioned about the insurance possibly not covering a bike.

Push the back seats down , take the front wheel off and whack it in the back.

I manage it with the wheels on... tarp and some marine carpet to line the rear of the car due to mud.

I would go roof racks due to boot access...

i've used both over time.

if you already have the tow bar, get a towbar bike rack, nice and easy to mount the bike at chest height on the rack,

plus there cheap.

if no towbar, go the roof-rack option just as easy, bit more costly, also get a step stool to make life easy :D

Hi all,

I work in the bike industry and have for 5 years. It depends a bit on what sort of bike you will be transporting, how often and what distances you will be going.

Ive got racks for the back for my DH bike, motorcrosser and often throw clean bikes just straight in the back.

Moto X rack

Ive also worked in the bike industry for the past 10years - roof racks all day! thats my personal preference. They will be cheaper than having a tow-bar fitted if you dont have one.

I would recommend the Thule Range - in particular the Thule Proride 591. These can take pretty much any bike, including heavy DH bikes.

I have 2-3 fitted on my racks. They take about 10sec to fit your dirty bike to and go. Just dont forget they are on the roof if you are going through any low carparks etc!

you may not have the option for a tow bar to be fitted depending on the material for an attachment.

A custom fit for my skyline was $550 plus $129 for a bike carrier, plus $55 for a whooping big spanner to remove the bicycle carrier but now I have the option to pull a trailer so the family bikes go in the trailer and on the bicycle carrier

HAha yeah it's gold! I burnt perspective to a DVD and played it on loop in the shop for a while and my boss pointed out that mysterious wagon to me as a Stagea. I asked olly who's it was and found out it was yours. Ever since then I wanted one! Haha

I knew olly thru dim as duncon/spirit distrIbutions sponsored me

I met olly at a national at thredbo once apart from that it was an msn friendship haha.

shit makes sense now. I was thinking, Benny/Rhythm, Rhythm/Benny. said to a mate, "doesnt that trials guy someone benny run rhythm?, there is a dude on sau with a heap of rhythm stuff on his sig called benny..."
