take it to a trimmer, believe me its difficult, there are hidden clips and screws and glue and all sorts of shit in gtt doors, i gave up on mine ages ago hahaah

where are these clips? LOL.. I think you're thinking of something different to him Julz?

i tore my current trim off with the sponge backing.. and used it as a template to cut the leather to shape.. then glued the new covers on.. Only thing i'm not happy with.. in the gap around the trim.. you gotta try get some good grip as it start to peal.. and the corners dont stretch like the fabric does..

you could have a go yourself but ask a trimmer for a price.. they are well equipped to do it..

Yer i pulled the door off and there was what looks liked chip board or similar holding everything on the door. The clips that I think Gun_Metal is talking about what looks like to me melted plastic to hold the chipboard on. I will see if i can get a quote from somewhere in Adelaide.

OK what are you talking about doing? Are you talking about replacing the fabric like I have done or something else like Julz is talking about? Post pics if avail.

The material is from Max @ Proseat.. The centre Console, Gear boot & Handbrake boots was from a place in the UK..

sorry i gnore my post i thought u were talking about the vinyl bit, i forgot waht the standard door trims even look like since i got my carbon ones in lol

the chipboad/hard cardboard ur speaking about is glued on if im not mistaken, gimps ones look tuff as so trust his advice. his results clearly speak for them selves

Replacing the fabric in the door trims, like you have done.

OK that's easy to get off then.. If you peel the fabric off at the front of the door.. (no need to remove it from the actual door.. It will simply tear away.. If you are as lucky as me the fabric with foam backing will simply peel off.. if not you will have to rub/sand/something to get all that foam off

Then i used the fabric as a template to cut the new leather..

Note* At this point i will mention just in case, don't forget to mark it out on the back so you don't see your marking lines..

And also don't forget to double check which side you are working on as you don't want to cut it backwards and then it will have the shape going the wrong way LOL..

Then i applied some glue to the area you are going to put the leather on.. Don't be skimpy but don't over-do it.. And something i didnt do in foresight.. apply some to the back of the leather itself so that doing the edge will already have the glue.. Just a light coat as it will spill out the sides.. then press around the area to get a good contact seal.. Use a damp cloth to wipe any excess..

Done.. Leave to dry and I recommend leaving in the garage so you can leave the windows down overnight to air out any adhesive smell..

I used a vinyl adhesive.. Think mine was a flooring one LOL.. Wood backing? Put it where? The whole door is one piece.. if you tear the fabric off (foam will come with it).. the Foam is only 3-4mm thick.. then glue the new vinyl on.. That's it.. you won't be able to get wood in there.. The vinyl will tuck into the groove around where the fabric tucks in already..
