Hi Guys

I have had a few issues with my car and i am finally getting around to having a near new (30,000km) rb25det installed. I am upgrading the following but i need to know what is the max power i should be running on standard internals??

I have

Nistune

Z32 AFM

Bosch 040 Fuel pump

Nismo 480cc injectors

Front mount I/C

Garrett GT3076 IW

Full 3" exhaust

Electronic boost controller

4" pod filter

I am low mounting with a standard manifold with extended studs and a spacer.

Can anyone tell me what would be safe to run at? and any ideas to ensure reliability??

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers :D

John

280rwkw is a nice safe figure that many have run for a good amount of time without issue.

People have made more, however they are few in numbers and some are not daily driven @ that power either.

Is this a good setup??

Only issue would be the injectors, I dont think they will flow enough for 280rwkw. Especially not if you have any plans for E85 later on.

They should be fine for 280 on 98 - thats about when stock gtr 440s run out of puff isn't it?

Yeah true but if I was buying expensive nismo injectors I would hate to be limited by injector size. The 3076 is well known for making over 280rwkw. Not to mention its preferrable to not run the injectors to their limit.

This is the issue I am looking at the moment. Looks like options are EV6 injectors such as siemens or bosch that fit an xr6 turbo and then modify the connectors and add spacers. Or hiflow injectors. Cant really see many other options for a decent size injector 600cc+.

Point taken. I was thinking that since the 280 figure is a good choice for the bottom end then the injectors he has now are fine as they should still have a little headroom at that level. Looks like you're looking at if from what would suit the capabilities of the turbo.

So, for an ideally matched setup, he could get a smaller turbo (for less lag), or bigger injectors and built bottom end (for more power with reliability) or just bigger injectors and some cash in savings in case the engine pops.

I think Hamish was running 555's when he produced 300rwkw+ on E85, so they should be sufficient. Given the smaller capacity Nismo injectors are all much the same price regardless of size, you might as well go for 555's or 600's atleast...

many people are showing around 350-400 hp on the rb25 upgrade thread??? 380 hp would be the max i want anyway. So i should be fine right??
Some people have been running 280 - 300kw no trouble. Others blow up with 250kw. The most important thing is to get a really good tuner (and don't sit on the rev limiter!!).

I have spoken to my tuner and he said he would have no problem with 380HP atw. He said he has had stockies with a FPR running more power. I will make sure he doesn't run too lean as i want this to be a daily and as long as i can have more fun than my original 230 atw ill be laughing. The 3076 will kick in later than stock obviously but as long as it sounds alot better (which it will) id settle around 350hp
