Guys ,

I had a situation where i left a door ajar overnight and well you guessed it my battery was dead. My question to everyone (and i know its dumb) is actually 2 fold.

Where do you go to both jump start & charge your battery for your car.

Its either at the battery &/or at the fuse box.....

The reason i asked was that i tried to charge the battery in situ via the fuse box under the bonnet but the meter on the charger went ape and peaked at 8 amps then reset back to 0 and then again to 8 amps. Which actually scared the crap outa me as i couldnt get the connectors off fast enough...

I eventually jumped accross the battery terminas as the car was in the garage at the time so made it quite easy having the battery in the boot...

Now this question on behalf of all the dumbasses out there that were too scared to ask (me included)

to jump start it you can use the terminals in the engine bay

there is the big chunky red terminal which you run the red lead to from the donor car battery/engine bay

and then run black from metal on the donor car to metal on your engine bay

thats it, with the other car off yours should crank

if it doesnt wait a few minutes and try again

if not, try with the other car running and see if it will crank over

DO NOT MIX UP THE TERMINALS - RED to RED, BLACK (METAL) to BLACK (METAL)

DO NOT MIX THEM UP OR GUESS OR HOPE FOR THE BEST

if you arent sure dont do it

if you get it wrong

it fries every component in the car along with putting your health at great risk

I guess i dumbed down the question a little much...

Firstly ...Yes i know red to red terminal , Black to black or chasis etc...

I did jump start it as the car was in the garage head first so i opened up the boot and did it that way. I am sure you can do the same from where the fuse box is as well but actually can you CHARGE from the fuse box area is really my question as I should of stated firstly...

The reason was that when i connected up the charger to the fuse box area and stated in my first post went right to the max 8amps and cutoff the back again BUT when i connect it to the battery it goes to 2-3 amps as per all my old NA cars of old...

This is the question i need an answer to guys!!!!
