Number of electronic projects Shan has finished: 0.

Number of electronic projects Chris has finished: Lots.

shan,

true, I have my fair share of things like this to my name, time is something I do not have a lot of nowadays. most of this will be handed out (the panel work will be.) unitl I get it to a point where I can do the stuff I'm capable of. (minor mechanical and the electrical system.)

My Wurth rep is going to love me. he seems to be the only source of nissan grey ties I can find.

I'm guessing you want the stock one out of the wagon? Not sure if he'll go for it but I can ask him if you like
ok finally have this thing at my shop. over teh next week and a bit I'm going to start pulling it to bits and fixing things. decided that I may be a 'lil bit' mad as I'm probably going to restore it.

"Well restoring it as a keeper is sane rather than mad"

yep - keeper. I worked out what needs replacing panel wise - checked - price ok- yep lets do it. fyi you can buy the rear panel work for less than $3k new less ancillaries. most of it is LOCAL! (yes that surprised me as well.)

one thing is for certain - the used import market probably wont pay what I'd want for it when done and I want my daughter to have a toy when she learns to drive in 14 yrs time.

(similar story to the fellow here in brissy with the GTR.)

I guess car projects aren't for wealth creation. To me that's what jobs are for. Having said that the neighbours SUV on hire purchase isn't exactly the best use of money either.

yep! and for me thats what a business is for (wealth creation bit.) I own all my cars and try not to buy new ones unless I have to - my shop van included.

ok I just had the panel guys out. I must be overly cautious. most of what I deemed not fixable he laughed at and said easy! so I have to buy two pieces new on the whole car. rest of it is straight as I was told.

anyone know where I can find a RB 4wd adapter plate . considering a *modified* VL motor ;) (blames Marc R for the idea..)

had a read of that. some of it looks to be made from unobtainium..

I got a stagea block for $100 from a kind member of the forum. (More are out there). It's now easy to run up 8K dollars on parts - forged internals, gaskets, quality oil pump etc then local assembly etc etc. . Plenty of engine builders then want 3k dollars for their "name". At the current exchange rate the RIPS 17.5 K may drop down to an astronomical 13k aussie for a short block. The gap from a locally assembled forged Jun/ Tomei/Nitto Stagea RB25 block isn't that far. Using an RB26 which also doesn't require a sump adaptor, also starts to look less silly. All the options are better than the RB 20. Cheers.

yep and thats where I'm going to start. engine I can source the bits myself, assembly - I share the building with an alfa / nissan mechanic -between the two of us we can screw it together.

the only hanging block is this plate to bolt the sump onto.

can't remember if it was someone on here or the uk gtr forum that was doing it but they did their own r&d on an rb30 sump adapter/4wd conversion plate, and i think they have a few made up. if i find it i'll post up a link. btw, i have an r32 gts4 as well. same colour as yours i take it from your pic. its in pretty good nick except for the paintwork cause the clear is lifting from the top edges of most of the bodywork and making its way down lol. just out of curiosity do you, or anyone else reading this thread, know what sort of paint the original paint is? i.e 2pac or acrylic etc?

unsure on paint type. most of the things I get painted I simply give a paint shop the color code and they work it out for me. I would say base/clear myself.
