hi all,

as some of you know my stags in many millions of peices atm

thinking while i have to change pistons anyway, i might aswell look at forging it.

the engine dude ive spoken to says there isnt any of the shelf forged pistons for a 25 neo... i find it hard to believe?

how ever i can get a set made up by arias pistons in the states but take from 4-6 weeks to make up :D and are $1700 with rings...not too bad i guess. they come in .5 and 1mm oversize. (whats the pros and cons to both?)

ill b sticking with the hks 2535 and would like to push it to about 20psi...

ill only be modding the bottom end at this stage (top end is just getting a freshen and port and polishing)

what eles will i need to hunt down?

ill b using forged gtr rods wont i (32 33 34 doesnt matter?)

and is it REALLY worth it seeing as ill run 17 stock and 20 with forgies...?

ive heard also people getting piston float over 20 pounds... whats this and is it likely to happen?

down the track a set of poncams and adj cam wheels would be nice!

but

thanx people :)

i would say Grab 2nd hand motor put it in & BUILD NEW ENGINE if your Spending $1700 on Piston`s alone ,may be save & build forged 30 & go from there ,

Good luck Adam

cheer`s Chuckie

contact these ppl for a new $1500del CP Piston / Eagle rods package http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CP-Pistons-...sQ5fAccessories

$100 cheaper for wiseco pistons http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wiseco-Pist...sQ5fAccessories

considering the NEO is the head, the bottom end shouldnt be an issue to rebuild.

you'll need new ACL bearings too. might as well grab a head gasket while you are at it http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cometic-Hea...sQ5fAccessories

Forget the poncams for now- get an RB30 forged bottom end - that will give you heaps of tow and maybe enough power for your purpose or provide a platform for an easy 300 - 400 kw in the future if you want. Reread Duncans thread or give him a call re the effortless power of an RB30!

That would require him to change turbo :D

Why not go RB26 crank, keep your rods, they are the same as GTR so dont waste money(just get them treated/balanced), and whatever pistons... are ACL still around?

Neo's have different pistons to non neo rb25's due to smaller combustion chamber in the head

Since you are in Adelaide, stay local talk to Lewis engines.

Try Spool Imports in QLD for parts and some good info on their site

They have done a few Neo's now

Alot more headaches and cost with rb30. Sump adaptors, extra height, exhaust and inlet mods, legal etc.

Neo's have gtr/rb26 rods all ready and good for 500hp, have bigger valves than gtr heads. plus have VCT.

I would not port and polish the head, unless pushing past 500hp. Save your money.

Buy a 2nd hand S2 stagea engine and save your money full stop.

If you must rebuild then go to the trouble of a dirty 30....if not why spend the money for no gain.

$10- $12k later the HKS 2535 won't make any more power than a stock bottom end will cope with.

Lol at your approach chef. Your HKS 2535 will give good response but will run outta puff sooner or later. Wolverine and others are so correct. Second hand motor, get your car back on the road and build the forged 25/30 on the side. Drop it in at a later date.
