Thermo Fan In Front Of My Radiator

I noticed this fan when I installed my FMIC over the weekend. What is it used to cool? I went for a drive at lunch but it wasn't operating when I stopped at Subway. And yes, the engine & A/C were still on. Pic below shows the fan in question.

If someone could let me know what it is used for, that would be great. I have a Series 2 RS Four-S.

Cheers. I'll keep an eye on it. I have a piece of rubber between the FMIC & the motor on the thermo fan to avoid any earthing &/or electrical interference.

Have you got your front bar etc back on? I had to get a slimmer aftermarket thermo fan when I installed my fmic.

I think it only comes on when your coolant reaches a certain temp, even with my aircon on I have never seen mine operating.

Yeah I got the front bar back on with no dramas. The FMIC is mounted on a slight angle.

Ditto, it supplements the clutch fan.

You'll probably only hear/notice it turn on when it's a 40 degree day.

yeah when car gets hot or when aircon is on and temp inside the aircon is not cool enough

my temp sensor for the aircon must be shot then because my aircon is shithouse when your not moving, or is there a fuse for the thermo fan??

Comes on when coolant is @ 95 deg, off @ 90, also operates off sensor in aircon condensor
