The diff center on my 96 GTSt has a sensor mounted in the front of it and on some of the other GTSts that I have looked at there isnt one...What tha?

Also, really dumb question alert....:) a LSD should spin both rear wheels when off the ground and one spun by hand (shouldnt they?) or it is a free wheeler?

oh yeah... are all turbo Skylines LSD

If you jack the back up, and spin one wheel:

a regular diff will make the other side spin opposite.

an LSD will spin them both in the same direction.

correct me if im wrong.

An easier way is to dump it and see what happens...

The sensor could be for the ABS, if the skyline has a 3 channel ABS system(treats the rear wheels as one)

Nissans use a Viscous LSD, so with the wheels off the ground, if you turn one the other should turn also, but if someone holds the other wheel, you can still turn it, but it should be fairly hard
