New wheels and springs installed today

Advan GT

20 x 10 front

20 x 12 rear

with 285 and 335 Michelins

Also fitted 1in lowered swift springs...these springs actually lowered the car 3/4in at the front and 1/2in at the rear.

Pics dont do it justice...looks very fat on the road.

Thanks to Michael at Acute Performance in the USA for a perfect transaction on the wheels/tyres and springs

I have also just done the 2012 front end conversion

Looks great. Is there any rubbing with the wider rubber? Do you have the offsets?

can you comment on ride of the swift springs vs stock? are they the regular or spec-r's

ive had my swift springs sitting in my garage for months now (my second set, as i chickened out and sold my first set to a member here who didn't end up fitting them either), and worried it'll ruin how well damped the stock '10 ride is on non-runflats

Nice wheels. Michael from Acute Performance is great and he seems to be able to answers emails at all times of the day lol. Don't worry, I didn't order your wheels =)

Looking forward to your response regarding the springs as I am looking to lower also. Looking at either the swift springs or the KW sleeve kit.

I'm not looking to order those wheels either but I am interested in whether or not there are any clearance issues with the tyres, as I also have Swift Springs fitted.

I have had the springs on mine for almost a year and would say they make the ride a fraction firmer than OEM in each setting. I've had no problems with them, the car seems to handle just as well as before but I don't track it so maybe there are differences there when the car is pushed real hard.

I'm lucky in that I can get in and out of my place without worrying about scraping but you do need to be much more aware of the lower height in general driving. Having said that I haven't touched anything since they were fitted. The car looks heaps better lowered and I would definitely fit them again in the future. Domino you are welcome to take my car for a drive next time we meet up, if you're concerned about ride quality.

Spent some time today preparing the GTR for a trip to Willall in Adelaide.

Im doing the 1350km road trip from Wollongong to Adelaide tomorrow... Willal will be fitting everything below (turbo installation is an engine out operation) and tuning 98 and E85.

See you Saturday morning Martin,,,if I dont die from boredom driving across the Hay Plains..

Below parts arrived today...(I had the turbos already)

Titanium turbo downpipes, Kakimoto 80mm cat back (my Willal titanium system suffered a major wack on a ripple strip at Wakefield)

and Cobb 76mm intakes.

Kakimoto fitted

Willall is doing a speed density tune.,...no need for the MAFs so we machined up these cool little MAF block offs...I will fabricate some new pipes when I have a chance...these had to do with the time frame I had.

A few pics from the road trip to Willall..

After 4 hours I still had 993km to go

gtr59.jpg

this is pretty much it for 95% of the trip...I found the South Australian speed limits to be high...110km/h zones right past residential driveways....the limit would be 70 in NSW. The cops also seemed pretty relaxed....I had the cruise control set to 123km/h (GPS speed) in 110 zone and on 3 occasions they didnt come after me.

finally arriving at Willall in Adelaide....after discussions with Martin Im going to add some larger titanium lower intakes to the turbos (replacing the restrictive cast factory pieces) and install the latest "Launch Control 5" transmission mapping from the 2012/13 GTR. Willall will only need the car for week...will post results here when complete.

And now time to relax at Adelaide airport....I have a 2 hour wait for my flight :-)

Looks like fun...good luck with the mods.

With your Advan/Michelin combo: is there any rubbing on the guards?

the only rubbing I get is when taking steep driveways at an angle (which I need to do because of the now lower front clearance)...other than that its perfect

I love these in white, looks fantastic and sits beautifully with the springs. Wheel combo is sick!

Nice build up keen to see how it turns out and holds up.

Fit a Syvecs at the same time, since you are doing everything else :)

I would have but no cruise control with the Syvecs...Ill get the Syvecs when I harden up a bit

    • See, that button sounds like perfection Duncan! My eyes really don't like light shining at them from a dash when I'm driving. Being part red colourblind, I've found for most cars that I can change colours on, I set everything to red, so my eyes see the elast amount of colour! I miss normal gauges in cars
    • bro, knowing the Japanese in  the 90's, i wouldn't be surprised if they shared components across their model lineup.
    • Maaaan so many "little" things  i rly hope my old RB20 would be "ok" and not too bad. I try to learn what and what not do i need. I look at crossmember at it looks different...even parts numbers are different. Wiring and all that i rly do not know...yeah someone mentioned the speedo thing. On that yoke clip. I rly do not know what can and cant be done "custom" so that is why iam asking to know and not be suprised 🙂  I know what it looks like
    • Oh, there's also the gearbox crossmember which will probably be different between the small box and the big box, and the wiring loom will probably need to be modified, because the plugs for the switches etc, will probably be different. And I think the speedo on the small box R34s is from somwhere stupid, like the diff, possibly, so you'd need to work out what needs to be done about that (assuming it is different). I think the thing you need to realise is that the front end of that yoke is a large hollow tube with splines on the inside that mates with the splines on the box's output shaft. It is a dedicated thing - not available "aftermarket". They were made to suit that box, by the car's OEM.
