well when i was looking for cars, the soarer was one of the main cars i was looking at, although i don't own one and someone may like to shed some light on what its like to own, i will tell you my experience:

- we had a lot of trouble when i was looking as the 3 or 4 we looked at were burning oil... from what i have heard this is not common although something to watch out for when buying ANY car for that matter...

- TT version very quick but is like a boat to drive

- V8 was smooth to drive, still quick enough and has more fruitful goodies inside. its also a very reliable piece of machinery.

- a bad point may be that many mechanics in australia may not touch them as there is no english instructions for the dash or any of the electrics. but www.planetsoarer.com.au may help you out in that department.

pretty much if you want a car to get you from point A to point B in STYLE, and quickly, then this car is a BEAST! but it handles like a boat and is a bitch to park also. that's why i chose a syline, because it suits my driving style better and i drive lots and park in all sorts of places. good luck with the purchase.

cheers,

Waz.

A friend at work has a TT 91 Soarer. They are very nice cruise mobiles but:

- Manuals are very rare

- The airbag suspension is boat like

- The active suspension model is rare and expensive but the active suspension is awesome

- Theyre heavy

- I think they dyno about 160rwkw stock so they are still very quick

- The TT 6 is much quicker than the V8.

I think they can look very phat with a nice paint job and a mild body kit.

The 96 models on got VVT and a single turbo engine as well as some cosmetic things and im sure a bucket load more.

lol.... I cant believe I've made such newbie mistake... very common when you dont get enough sleep.... Correctoin inline 6 :)

I've test driven V8 and inline 6 TT both... for my mate

My friend ending up with TT cuz its more powerful...

but now I think of it If I had choice I would choosen V8 with nice exahust... have you heared it??? damm that sounds good :D

yeah they are like boat in the handling department, but it can be managed by installing some whiteline swaybar and any after market suspension kits plus some nice hard PINEAPPLES :D

but they are just too big for me...but for Big blokes( like my mate) Its plenty room. also nice room at the back if you are not 6'10 or less :(

cheers

Joe

thanks for the help guys. i'm mostly learning about the jap cars at the moment, i only got into them a little once i started riding in them.

what's getting me is why they are so cheap, cause they look damn good on paper. their original value has deminished a lot more than most other cars, does anyone know why? i think that points to some kind of design flaw that was found later down the track, could be wrong.

i'm learing on a huge auto  that's another reason why i think they'd make a good choice one day. prolly be the lexus ones by the time i get the money!

Id be worried about the electrics stuffing up! man the amount of shit in those cars, the electric dash can sometimes go blinky and screw up.

95% are auto and they are quite expensive to mod compared to skylines i rkn. Once you do the basics, zorst, pods, fmic maybe then after that its hell expensive. They have shitty ceramic turbines too so they dont like to be boosted much at all.

Talk to the guys here http://www.lexus.australia.as/entry.htm its an australian soarer forum.
