Wanting To Go "pro-sumer" With My Sony Hdr-cx550.

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow Forum members,

I'm wanting to take the next step with my video camera, but don't know where to start.

Currently I'm the go to guy in the extended family for weddings, 40ths, 50ths, etc. And in my own time I'm doing track days and car shows.

I reclenty went HD while in Japan and picked up a Sony HDR-CX550 and I'm loving the results I'm getting. But I'm not sure of the next step.

The things on my list are;

1. Mics

2. Lights

3. Lenses & filters

I think I've got filters covered. Sony has a few antiglare filters that will be handy coming into summer. But I'd like to get a "fisheye" lens. But nothing too extreme like in skaiting vids.

For lights and mics, I've been thinking of something camera mounted and powered. I've been told I can get something that combines a boom mic, 2 XLR plugs, and another shoe for a light that will fit my camera, but Sony don't make anything like that, or it isn't for sale in Australia, (yet).

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to your suggestions.
