Is it really a n/a rb20 in a 33? i find that hard to believe unless someone corrects me?

if so you have close to the worst combination of car and motor, the only thing worse you could have is the single cam rb20e.

+1 as said, check your oil. Did the car have an inspection before you bought it? is the oil pump going ok? has the motor been replaced with an rb20 for some reason?

Ive heard of RB20DE R33's but yeah the RB25 is favoured over the 20 for obvious reasons

OP: Check your oil level, if thats fine I'd say its a dodgy bit of wiring to your oil pressure sender or your oil pressure sender itself might be broken

I don't think R33 came in RB20DE - They came out in RB20E, RB25DE, RB25DEt, RB26DETT (GTR)

You might have a SOHC RB20. :P

Might be worth checking oil level.

I recommend new oil and filter.

Actually I think you are right, only the RB20E was available...even gayer lol. I swear I remember reading they were not approved to bring into the country but some still got in.

Personal import maybe....

The oil light is of the "Oh SHIT!!!!" type. If it comes on, then you have no oil pressure, and that is NOT good for the engine..

One way to avoid it is to not brake so heavily that it comes on. One other method is to change the oil.

check the sump is not damaged, if its been punched up it may have damaged the pick up tube higher up, causing it to pull air on braking, even when your oil level is correct. can test this by overfilling oil by a litre. sr20s common for it.

You could get a skyline with a CA18i in Japan, yes thats right, a 1.8 litre SINGLE CAM.

No idea why anyone would get it, but I have seen photo evidence of such a beast.

Regarding the oil problem all you can really do is overfill the engine slightly, I believe that the higher and softer the suspension the worse it is as well (more weight shift).

edit: The car is a R32 GXi and it makes 68kw at the fly, f**king woeful.

edit2: Its not even proper injection, its single point tb injection ahaha

I've seen this once when braking hard, thankfully I had already put the clutch in and the revs had dropped to about 1500rpm when the oil light flickered on. My oil level was about midway between L and H on the dipstick.

FWIW I always put 5L of oil in when I do the change, preferably the oil is slightly above the H mark. There's a kink in the dipstick and I figure that's the "knob end" warning mark that you'll end up crank slapping the oil if you fill it past that, mine is always just below that point.
