Confirmation with Just Car over the phone told me that if you are not legally driving the car you have no cover what so ever. Third Party and Comprehensive is void.....

Just like i thought. I would just buy a shitter and drive that for 6 months till you get you license. You will have a true apprecaition of your new car then ;) . Dont risk damaging your financial record for life by driving it.

easiest thing to do is apply for an exemption at the RTA you will need to write a compelling letter showing you looked on the site and called RTA and was told is not on the list but later found out that it was on the list so the RTA was the cause you were miss informed and now cannot sell the car as you would be at a great financial loss and the car is also used as a family car by your parents

this should be enough grounds for you to get an exemption

worst that can happen they refuse you one and you have to go with the little 500 banger till your on full license

don't think they'll buy that reason. The RTA ruling is pretty clear on that ..if it's registered under his name, then it will not be considered a family car. It has to be registered under either parent, then u can argue that it's the sole family car and that he's applying for exemption to be allowed to drive the car.

Garage the V35, and go buy a $500 shitter to drive legally in the meantime: at least that way if someting does happen, you only wreck a crappy car with no insurance, rather than a $26k car with no valid insurance.

Agreed.

no sense in driving around with out insurance for you and other drivers.
