In general, owners in Japan will do a timing belt change just before the 100,000k's mark.

To be safe I would just change it, regardless.

I had a Nismo timing belt and I changed it as soon as I got the car to a OEM (Nissan) timing belt.

A 100k service isn't going to be cheap :D

Depending on how much money you have available it may be best to park up the skyline (before the timing belt goes). From there you can slowly collect up all the parts required and then just find a local workshop to do the labour. The kms could have also been wound back further at import....

You really need to do the following:

- AC Belt

- PS Belt

- Alt Belt

- Timing Belt

- Water Pump

- Spark Plugs

- Clutch (Full Kit Ideally)

- All Fluids

- All Filters

- New Battery?

ect.

You could get away with just the clutch and timing belt for now, if things are failing it's most likely sign everything is pretty well worn.

unless the clutch is slipping, forget about it. same goes for the battery. unless it is dying, leave it alone.

belts, yeah maybe, depending on condition of the ones on there (excluding timing belt).

timing belt, yes, and make sure the tensioners are done too.

fluids, yes.

water pump, yes, best to do it while you have everything apart.

spark plugs, depends on how old the ones you have in there are.

thats all he needs to do. the rest can be done on your own, at normal service intervals as you see fit. 5000kms for oil/filter. 10k kms for copper plugs, etc

Spark plugs, filters and fluids I do myself. Battery has just been changed and clutch is slipping so I'm organising an upgrade to be put in. I just have no idea what has been done before, so I might do all the belts and water pump...

as monkeyboy has said the sticker is not always an indication that the 100k service has been done. mine had the sticker but i did service anyway to be safe, and by the look of the belt it was the original from the factory.

when my 100k sevice was done they replaced-

timing belt

water pump

cam and crank seals

idler and tensioner bearings?? (i believe it was both, but could be wrong)

all up the sevice cost about the $900 mark. im sure if i wanted to i could have found someone to do it cheaper.

This is one of those times I really wish I was a good mechanic.

Btw did oil today and when I can undo the fkn plugs will change the gearbox and diff oils.

Then there's only clutch and brake fluid right? Does the clutch fluid have to be done with the new clutch? I might get the brake fluid done when I get new pads, which is also going to be soon.

Yeah just coolant in the radiator which would obviously be done with the water pump and belts.

Probably wouldn't hurt changing the power steering fluid also. That ones reasonably cheap/easy.

it's a skyline, not a space rocket. any normal mechanic with half a brain will be able to do the work. half the stuff won't be that much different to a VL commodore, and i'm sure he's worked on newer, more advanced motors than a dirty old RB.

Should I be replacing these too? (Along with the kudos kit and AC/PS/alt belts and fuel and air filters and cabin air filter and all fluids)

The harmonic balancer seems pretty costly.

As above. No need to change the balancer, battery or clutch unless you have issues with those items. My cam covers were leaking so I got the seals so i could change them all at once. If your changing your plugs with platinum ones and have leaking cam covers change the seals now. it will save you time pulling it all apart to do the seals. I also changed every fluid. Clutch, Gbox, Diff, Coolant, P steer and brake fluids. You never know when it was changed last otherwise.

I bought all my gear at once from Kudos and he gave me a few free upgrades and threw in a few goodies. Message him and let him know what you want. i changed my mind and ordered a heap more and Andrew sent me the goods and let me pay him a week or so later. Not many people would do this. Top bloke. Would recomend anybody at least gets a price from him.

I got the whole Nissan Timing Belt kit and Nissan water pump with nissan seals, Timing belt stud kit, Cam cover gasket set, Ancillary drive belt set, NGK plugs and he threw in a Greddy oil filter. The stud kit is a good idea as theer are stories of them snapping if reused.

Cheers for the info, the hundred thou sticker was in a random place so the service had been done, luckily.

I had everything ordered with kudos before a mate pointed it out and Andrew was happy to change the order for a clutch kit. Great guy, will go to Kudos first for whatever I need now...
