Hey guys,

few weeks ago when i parked the car after a 30min or so drive i could hear boiling from the front of the car. Popped the hood and sure enough it was the cooling system, reserve tank was empty but radiator was full, also temp was normal as far as the gauge indicated.

Needless to say the next day i booked in my car, they pressure tested and it passed with flying colours...no leaks, hoses intact etc. Topped up with 1lt of the genuine nissan coolant and all good, no issues as far as boiling or other, but i inspected under the hood again this morn and the reserve tank is almost empty again. Is this normal? Anyone else experienced this?

Is that just a case of starting the car with radiator cap off and letting it reach operating temp?

Nope, the car should have a "bleed nipple" located at the high point of the cooling system, which you can crack and allow any air to escape.

Only time that ever happens to me is when I flush my cooling system and add new coolant. After half an hour or so of driving the reservoir tank depletes because I always thought the system self-bleeds as there is a small vent on top of my tank. I just top it up to max once this happens and the coolant stays full until the next time I'm ready to flush the entire system again.
