ok,

i have a r32 gtst w/350rwkw rb25.

i track my car, but with my standard r32 gtst brakes its average!

i have been looking into brembo, 33gtst, r32gtst with bigger rotors.

i have read somewhere i can run my 32 calipers with brackets to run a 324mm rotor.

whats the best option?

just run a full r33 setup?

r32 gtst with 324mm rotor?

i also herd the r33 calipers are the same as r32 calipers?

do 33 and 32 run same brake pads?

What pads are you using? Are your rotors upgraded to slotted? Are you using braided brake lines? When was the last time you changed the brake fluid?

Any or all of these will improve the braking performance before you need to think about changing the hardware. If you still want to upgrade the hardware, the R33 GTSt is the same as the (early) R32 GT-R (296mm rotor), late R32 / R33 / R34 GT-Rs are 324mm rotors. The 324mm rotors are thicker than R32 GTS2 280mm rotors (30mm vs 28mm), so the caliper might not be able to fit over the larger disk (short of machining half the pad away). The simplest method would be the get the rotors and the matching calipers, rather than try to use adapters. They all use the same DB1170 pad.

im running the qfm a1rms.

calipers and rotors are all factory.

im picking up some r33gtst front brake setup. i can use my qfm a1rms from my r32 brakes yeah?

You'll need to move up to a track pad as well. The A1RM is not designed to stop 350rwkw Skylines non-stop at the track.

A1RM is a great pad for light track work, but look at I think Compound 9 by QFM, I have a set tucked away the next time I hit Mallala

Yes the pads are the same. Just go easy on them at the track.

Well A1RM's up front only last about 3/4 of a track day for me, and that's a 200kw GTR. Take a backup pair when you hit Mallala so you have a pair to change during the day.

Yeah they lasted similar for me on a 200kW S14. But they delaminated and took my rotors with them.

My fault for using them for something they're not designed for though. They're great street/autocross pads.

On my 32gtst I'm running R33gtst callipers, DBA4000 slotted rotors and Ferodo DS2500 pads. Stops on a dime and way more braking than my tyres can handle, haven't run semi's so no comment there. Also have a master cylinder stopper and braided lines all round, makes a fair difference when standing on the pedal hard.

32gtst and 33gtst callipers are pretty well the same except for longer legs on the 33gtst callipers to suit the bigger rotor.

If you tried to use the 32gtst callipers with adapter brackets and 324mm rotors, you'd have to grind a heap out of the inside of the calliper which isn't very pretty or safe, as the 33gtst callipers sit 8mm further out normally than 32gtst items.

If it's a pretty dedicated track car, I would go 32gtr callipers (dimensionally the same as 33gtst but lighter) to save on some unsprung weight.

bam, thats what i wanted to know!

the only thing that needs to be modded on the caliper to fit the adaptors is the bolt hole, needs to be filed out like1-2mm..

Nothing should need to be done at all to the holes...

If fitting R34 GTT brakes (310mm rotors) there would be as they run a 14mm bolt.

R32 GTSt/GTR and R33 GTSt/GTR use 12mm bolts.

My setup bolted up with the only mod being cutting the backing plate to suit the new location of the calliper.

There are two different variations out there, one rotates the calliper 15deg (which is what I'm running), the other just offsets the calliper (I have a set of these brackets aswell for R&D purposes).

I find the R32 GTS-T calipers to flex significantly more than the R32 GTR or R33 GTS-T calipers. You definately feel it through the pedal.

Other option is R34 GTT calipers & discs, (310mm x 30mm). Only thing you need to do is drill 12dia. hole to 14mm on your hub and find high tensile bolts to suit. Pads are the same as 32 & 33. If you buy the 34 GTT calipers from the wreckers ask them for the bolts also. They are not off the shelf items, they may be available from Nissan, I haven't checked yet. M14x1.25 35mm long with 10mm shank (i think). pitch may be 1.5mm. Not a huge upgrade but if your 32 calipers are a bit shagged & you don't like the idea of adapter plates then there is another cheap option. Only thing is you may struggle to find a 2 piece rotor in 310mm dia. DBA don't seem to make them, maybe project mu but they are maybe $1300 a pair.

I like it and it was cheap compared to a Brembo or even more exotic setup. Really depends on your budget and how serious about tracking the car you are.
