yep thats exactly what ill be looking at running. but on my 32gtst calipers. what width are 350z rotors? 30mm or 32mm.

and will the gtst calipers need to be machined to fit the 324mm rotor?

yeh i saw a thread which outlined what u meant about having to grind the inside of the caliper away..

so this def has to be done on a r32 gtst caliper?

It depends on the adapter bracket, most are to suit 33gtst/32gtr calipers.

I have laid out the geometry for 32gtst calipers but have changed jobs twice in the last few months and as such haven't had the time or money to get prototypes cut up :P

Edit: I'm not sure what the offset of those 350Z rotors is but the 350Z rotors (290mmish) that I have on my Stagea are a completely different offset to skyline rotors (they suit the series 2 Stagea calipers). The rotors I'm running on my skyline are 33GTR items and this is what I would suggest you look for.

I am looking to do a variety of brackets but probably not going to happen for a little while. What kicked it off was trying to squeeze bigger rotors on to the wagon and the brackets I had for my 32 didn't fit on the wagons' 4wd hubs.

More than happy to share what I have learned though :P

If the kit you are looking at is to suit 32GTR (non-brembo), but you want to use 32gtst calipers then yes, I'll put money on having to machine the inside of the calipers. The reason being that the 32GTR caliper are to suit 296mm rotors and thus have longer "legs" than the 32GTSt calipers which are to suit a 280mm rotor.

Before you go ahead and buy the adapter kit from UAS, ask if they still recommend them for track usage, as they used to have a warning that they weren't suitable for motorsport applications.

I'd be more worried about using them for street duties being that they are ally/alloy.

324x30mm = 350z track rotors front

rears are 322 x 18mm

non-track model are 307mm at rear

Id suggest you'll need r32 gtr or r33 gtst calipers. 300zx will also suit. not sure about r32 gtst calipers....

the dba4000 rotors will crack, but the adapters have been on my car for well over 20 track days now. no problems.

What have people here done in the way of GT-R brake upgrades such as adaptors to fit larger discs, im toying with the Idea of retaining my GT-R calipers but trying to fit a way bigger disc (330mm++) and Am interested to know what people think ?

Lets break them up to which rotor they use. Since they all use the same pad, piston size and lug mount PCD the only major difference is the length of the lug (as has been pointed out) You have:

280mm Caliper: R32 GTSt (ALLOY), S14 200SX (STEEL), S15 200SX (STEEL) Z32 300ZX (ALLOY),

296mm Caliper: R32 GTR (ALLOY), R33 GTS25T (ALLOY)

310mm Caliper: R34 GTT (ALLOY)

324mm Caliper: R32/R33/34 GTR (ALLOY)

I have never put the 280, 296 and 310 mm calipers side by side to see if there is a difference in the curvature, or ID of the caliper. If you run certain brands of pads with the offset caliper then you will find that some overhang off the edge of the rotor face.

But it is advisable that you simply chamfer the outer edge of the pad down rather then machine the caliper. It seems some brands of pads place the pad comound slightly differently on the backing plate, so when I used a spacer for a 324mm rotor and a 280mm caliper, some pads had overhang, others were pefect.

So all the kits for sale are typically two generic types, one for the 280mm calipers which simply offset the caliper, and the brackets for the 296mm whcih clocks and offsets the caliper. It does this because the bracket is nto big enough to only offset the rotor 28mm and have 4 big holes drilled and tapped in them whilst being sturdy. I am not aware of any weight difference between the alloy family of calipers, be it R32 GTSt or R32 GTR caliper. If someone has weighed them then would be interesting to know, but suspect the only difference in weight is the difference in amount of alloy used in them, and with the R32 GTST/Z32 300ZX calipers having longer lugs for mounting then perhaps they are 50grams heavier

There is nothing wrong with them being out of alloy provided they are well made from the correct grade of billet. If you use them for motorsport with aggresive pads you may find that they are too hard on some brands of rotors and cause cracking. If you buy the correct bracket for the caliper you plan to use then there should be no need to machine the caliper. If you do then something is wrong.

    • That is correct. I'm using a modified ABS ring and a ZF speed sensor on my rear diff for speed input. I'm running a Haltech ecu. 
    • Been busy with the newborn. We originally thought we were going to go for a third, but we're good with two lol. He's starting to actually sleep now so I've had some energy to work on the car. It's been parked away in the garage since late November due to winter.  I went ahead and redid all my head oil drains. I originally had my front and rear head drain going into the same pipe but have since split them up. I also added an Ethanol content sensor to get ready to run E85 this summer. Tossed it on my return line. Sensor sits nicely under my intake manifold.    I also have a lot of parts that came in for my rear end. I'll be swapping over to a 3.3 final drive and doing the GK teck anti squat mod. While the rear subframe is off, I'll also change every bushing. We're planning on buying another house soon with the condition that I get at a minimum a 2 door garage, so I'll wait to have more room for this. Now onto the strange things that recently happened... After changing the lower rad hose (It had been sitting in my cabinet for well over a year and was the last hose I had to replace), I let the car idle in the garage to bleed my coolant. After running for a few minutes, it started missing. Got much worst within a minute or two and then stalled and would not restart. My crank sensor decided to crap itself. No damage, no explanation, just died. I went ahead and replaced it with another ZF sensor but the heavier duty stainless model with a shield. Tossed that in and started right up. Has anyone else seen this? I hate when things fail without cause. Luckily this was a blessing in disguise... This lead me to recheck my timing. It seems I may have had a beer or two the last time I had set my TDC angle as I was off exactly 5 degrees... I miscounted a line haha. I was running 5 degrees less then commanded. It's a little embarrassing but helps explain why my dyno operator seemed to think I should be making more then 478rwkws.        
    • Sharing results from recent Liberty Walk R35 GTR, since they are still considered as somesort of a V36 Skyline. We do them turbos too. This are high flowed SS-1 models with ball bearing conversion done.  Car have managed to pull 485awkws @ 20Psi so far pushing limitations of factory built engine. The build list for R35 GTR enthusiasts as follow : HyperGear high flowed stock turbos in SS1 (G25-660 specs) Custom titanium intake pipes. Vspec performance titanium front pipes. Vspec performance 4" titanium exhaust. Upgrade fuel pumps. 1200cc injectors. Ignition coilpacks Hks intake plenum. Hks intercooler piping. Greddy intercooler. Greddy bovs. Top-secret coolant reservoir. Emtron ecu. Straight E85. Built gear box.  
    • Nah no bearings, just slip fit.  Would be a reasonably challenging but not impossible job to modify it to run bearings but I'm hoping that's not necessary as I may have well built one myself if I end up spending hours modifying it!
    • Brumbys with good shells are bloody expensive, I've looked at 2 "cheaper" cars, and walked away from both,  plus after some research spare parts are fairly sparce I'm starting to think that I missed the boat on finding a clean one that is straight (ish) and without alot rust I'm starting to think about a old Hilux as panels and other parts are much more available as they sold tens of thousands of them I use to be indecisive but now I'm not sure
