This Freeway exit sign system has been working in Singapore for the past 25+ years. About time VicRoad learn from the rest of the world.

An upgrade of our road surface would be something the government should really look at especially roads in Melbourne inner city. Pot holes and bumps everywhere.

it's a good idea.

-benefits people who don't drive on fwys often or only use certain fwys. (for one, i rarely use the monash or any of the west side fwys.)

-helps new drivers, drive instead of reading signs. numbering system is far easier to read, if you know you want to take exit 8 and you just passed exit 5, you don't have to be in the left lane just yet. only requires a glance.

-helps asians get in the correct fking lane.

-reduces complexity of directions. (jump on the monash from warrigal, take exit 13....)

-helps interstate drivers and tourists. if i went up to sydney, it would be nice to read an easy numbering system instead of replying on names i wont remember and have no need remembering.

BAH!!!

More signs to distract people from actual driving...

Why dont they just make an Iphone app , would be more successful...

Because you're not supposed to be using your iPhone while driving.

actually wankers, I once missed an exit on the Tullamarine freeway, and somehow managed to drive from Broadmeadows back into the city and over the West Gate bridge :S, I'm glad for something like this, cause it can be really confusing, esp trying to cross the city to places like Dandenong. I get sick of having to refer to a GPS AND street directory!

I actually like the new signage idea. I know my way around Melbourne reasonably well (I'm from Bendigo) but when we take Brenton's FTO to Melbourne it usually results him yelling "what fkn exit am I taking" "Flemington road, read the signs" "I can't I'm watching for traffic"

LOL at the white GT-R. Loving the way it just flies by. Probably not good for our reputation though. "Look it's a Skyline...It must be speeding...Pull them over"

The blue Commodore- If I did that in front of a truck I'd get my butt kicked, plus it's just damn annoying. Stupid gold Kia something or other did that to me this morning, it thought it was going faster then me, then realised their car couldn't get that far in front of me and they were heading for the arse of a truck.

Another victim!!!

f**k signs! I think instead they should spend the money on cheapening gps' then no one would have any problem going anywhere! Not even on normal roads! You wouldn't even need signs!!

Ever driven CBD Adelaide?

Melbourne roads are 10x better

Tell Vic Roads to f**king widen the bridge on citylink inbound on the monash so we can use the frigging right hand lane from bourke road into the city :D

Yeah i just came back from a trip to Adelaide the south eastern freeway is a work of art , pity about the rest of the city, and i swear all the drivers are on valium or something..U guys think our 40 zones are bad over there they are 25...And all the zones that should be 80 are 60 ..And whats even weirder is the buses drive on tram tracks....

Put that together with their import hating police and Melbourne seems not so bad...

Hmm...I will cross Adelaide off my possible place to visit list. I hate 40 zones! and I would probably get done 25 over the limit and loose my license if I went to Adelaide.Seriously you may as well just get the hell out and walk.

Charlene- That's a freaking brilliant idea. My GPS is only 2-3 years old, went to Tarneit and couldn't find anything..stupid GPS with it's crappy maps, but the crappier part is the unit cost me $140....new maps are $160!

Or another suggestion is possibly fixing all those huge holes in the Calder freeway between Kyneton and Sunbury/Diggers Rest exit there is that many holes, whole lanes closed and traffic dropped to 60 because it's so bad. I know where the holes are now so I just move around them but you see unsuspecting peoples front ends dip or people loose control momentarily

Doubt many will be interested, but ever tried NOT driving in the/a city? Country Vic roads are appalling. I literally cannot drive in any direction where there isn't a f***** road for more that 10+ km, then you might get a good section for a few hundred metres, then it's f***** again, and I live in a town of 15,000+ population. Should get a vid of the kind of stuff i'm talking about...

The best bit is the "repairs". You know, the signs recommending you do 60km/h in a hundred zone, that stay there for 6+ months? Or the gravel/tar mix poured over the holes so you get it all down the side of your car and the hole re-appears anyways?

Rahhhgargblearghhahah

    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!
    • I just quote the Rolling Stones. Paint it black.
    • It just depends if you're like me with a high level of OCD for doing something like hardlines, and highly critical of the little things, and then bugger all patience to get it how my brain pictures it
    • More than happy with the colour match Talking to the painter he recommended to give the top a few weeks for the paint to 100% cure prior to sealing it with the ceramic stuff Also, because why not..... I have a fancy pants Fluidampr harmonic balancer on order, the 2.5 engine uses the OEM 2.0 balancer off the old motor as the 2.5 balancer is a larger unit and doesn't fit clearance wise, which, because the two engines have different harmonics, isn't optimal, the OEM balancer does the job, but as the gear driven balancer in the bottom end is removed to fit a RWD application there is slightly more vibration, the Fluidampr helps with the harmonics that the gear driven balancer once took care of,  basically makes life easier on the oil pump and bearings when thrashing it around Hopefully the weather gets better soon because I'm keen for some cruising around, and currently, with the winds and storms we are getting, the amount of detritus being blown around from trees on the road isn't something I want to be driving around in
