Ever since being driven around in my mates r33 i've grown to like skylines. It's the only car i'd drive other than my vt commodore. But my vt still goes alright, it's on gas so it's cheap, looks nice and everything but it doesn't have the x factor that a skyline does. I feel like i want a car that suits my personality more and defines who i am a bit more than just a commodore with average wheels, tail lights and tinted windows thats boring to drive.

I've never actually driven a skyline but to me once it's lowered, windows blacked out, sounds like a rocket ship and is obviously fast, i reckon it will be grouse just knowing thats what im driving and feel a bit special for it.

Is this really what it's like? or is an enthusiast the only one that would really see it that way? I want to know that everyone knows it's a badass car and i want to be able to enjoy a day just spent driving around tourist routes and driving aimlessly.

Somehow i think i've forgotten that driving can be enjoyable since my cars been on gas and i can feel the gearbox and steering system deteriorating.

I'm still looking for my Skyline, but I've test driven 4 and they are loads of fun to drive.

And considering this is a Skyline forum, I'm pretty sure everyone on the site is going to agree.

Although I have to admit, there is a supercharged VX commodore on car sales that has caught my eye. If it was manual I would have gone to look at it already lol.

Go have a look at a few and see how you like them. Or see if your mate will let you drive his. Even if it's just in a car park.

Skylines are underrated, they're the best cars.. i've had heaps of cars.. s14,monaro vz, ferrari f355, 350z, and believe me.........SKYLINE Shits on all of em............................ (But the ferrari pulls more heads) :P

yeah like the rest have said, ive had 2 cars in my life...and theyve both been skylines..from the N/A to the turbo they both are just as good as each other...i guess its coz i just love sports cars and for the value they are 10/10

You feel superior to everyone else.. Girls take their panties off and don't know why.. High school girls flock to you and hang off you.. School boys all wanna be your best friend.. Chuck Norris himself is impressed by this car..

I vote no skyline.. Everyone will think your a hoon car.. You sound like you just want to show off to everyone, ending up finishing in a pole.. Oh and that badass fully sick car will get more attention from the police then from your neighbours daughter.. Buy a car for yourself not others..

skylines are over rated. a lot of people on here think they are the best and fastest car ever made. i've owned about 10 cars and driven many more and while the skyline was fun, it wasn't the best on a day to day basis.

would i buy another skyline? probably not, unless i had the money to do it up exactly how i wanted it (which would cost double what buying the car would). would i recommend people own one at least once in their lifetime? yes.

Marc, Craig and I have been on a protracted crusade to keep the 'shock 'n awe' spectre of Skylines secret.

Trouble is...

1) Marc's still doing it,

2) Craig resorts to misdirection and...

3) I've given up. So now, I let the others do the talking for me... :(

FYP terry

PS.. The skylines can be found over the edge of the cliff there.. That's the one.. Just keep walking..

Bought a GTT and spent too much money on it. Loved it until I got smoked by a lightly tuned EVO.

Bought an EVO and now have an STI. Have driven plenty of GTR's too.

One thing I can positively say (even though I'm stating the obvious)... GTR/EVO/STI are all in a league of their own regarding interior, exterior and potential. Way better than a stock/lightly/mildly tuned single turbo Skyline by a million years.

Would I ever buy another Skyline..? Only a GTR.

I was in the market for an s15 silvia a few years ago, drove a series 2 gts-t and never looked back.

I agree with Luce, if I was to buy another Nissan, it would be a GTR.

But the hassel with the boys in blue is annoying, part and parcel of driving any skyline (even the non turbo ones)

    • I started with the above in my head too, and I might be reading / thinking about what they want wrong, which is why I complicated it a bit further. Purpose I'm seeing is for the corner indicator to be on with headlights, and then if the indicator turns on it can still flash. The relay part above I can see working as required, except in the case of headlight is on, and indicator is on. The change over relay you've wired in would get signal from the indicator, and as it flashes would give power to the globe from the indicator, but as it flashes off, power comes from the headlight, which would cause the indicator to be constantly on when headlight is on, even while indicator change over is flashing. That is unless we don't care if it flashes or not if the headlight is on? I guess that's an OP clarification.
    • HI, Ive got an r34 gtt sedan A/T. The instrument cluster went out and I replaced it with another A/T everything visually looks the same and all the gauges work now with the exception of the speedometer and odometer. The speedo will stay pinned at zero until I'm going about 55kmh and then it'll say Im going about 5kmh. my odometer seems to be tracking at about a 1/10 of what it should. If I go 1km it'll say I've only gone 0.01. Appreciate any and all help. Ive tried searching through the forums reddit and a local fb group. The only info I think I've found is that some cars didnt come equipped with TCS (mind is) and the clusters may be different between those? I've also installed a brand new VSS and no joy obviously. TIA.
    • what speedo healer did you use?
    • Certainly. It is probably broken under the wire style clamp. At least that one is easier to get at than the front one.   Sounds like it isn't a major leak, I'd start with backing off the the water feed and return banjos into the turbos half a turn then tightening properly. Hardlines can still crack over time, either in the tube (particularly when turbos are changed if the banjo is siezed in the the tube) or at the brazed joins between the lines and the banjo fittings. A coolant system pressure test will reveal all. BTW you'd be able to get a sump without exchange, it will just cost more as they will have to source another stock one for the next customer. If you want to address the sump a much better option is something like this https://www.hioctanedirect.com/hi-octane-racing-sump-extension-nissan-rb26 that you weld in locally (and add the oil return fittings at the same time)
    • Pretty sure you are thinking of the throwout bearing there (which you should change when you change your clutch), when they are worn they will get quieter if you put your foot on the clutch. An input shaft bearing is turning/noisy at all times.
