The T440R

- all carbon body

- 440hp N/A 4.2L straight 6

- 0-100km/h in less than 4 sec

How on earth do they get 330kw out of a NA 4.2L 6 cyl engine?!?!

Compares pretty well to Ford's new DOHC 4L 6 at 182kw (which I was already damn impressed with)! In fact it's pretty good against their turbo version too.

Here's a question though, a lot of companies like Maserati have these low capacity (4L or so) V8s that produce roughly the same level of power. Is it just as easy to get this power out of a 6 cylinder engine?

Yeh thought id double the cylinders in my avator (still cant get the pic to turn out clearly though)

The 4.2L TVR 6 cylinder bore/stroke ratio means it should rev a little better then the Ford 4L, and from memory the thing has a compression ration of 11.3:1 (or 11.5:1)

The engine was built for racing in the British GT Series, so is pretty far removed far from a mass production 6 cylinder engine. One look at the induction setup on these engines and you will soon see they are a pretty serious piece of kit ( Carbon fibre baby :( )

I saw a griffith in Sydney one afternoon too....

In Sydney i have only ever seen 3 TVRs, and that included the Griffith that was at Wakefiled that got humbled by a stock Blue R33 Series 2 driven by some bloke on a "mission from god"

When i was in the UK there were plenty of Cerberas/Tuscans getting around, every time i saw one i couldnt help but dream how good it would be if:

- i could have driven one to France instead of flying,

- was driving a TVR down the French coast instead of the hire car Renault Clio &

- was driving a TVR thru the Pyrenees mountains when we were following the tour de france instead of the same hire Renault Clio

As for owning one, id love to get one when im over there later this year, but i think a Cosworth Sierra or Escort will be more my budget. :) (Personal Import)

..ohh and thanks for the automotive porn rrrage! :)

My previous ramblings about TVRs
