Hey there guys,

im new to all this so please bear with me...

i just bought an r32 gtst which i plan on modifying etc.. however after taking the motor out, i decided to put it back in and drive it around for a while because im selling my daily driver to get a car through work.. anyway...

i have put the engine back in BUT for some reason the car will start and then die pretty much straight away.. the only thing i have done differently then stock is mounting the battery in the boot.

starting the car i can rev it to about 1000 rpm while it shudders and splutters and carries on until i release the accelerator and then it just dies. i have noticed something else and that is i managed to get it to rev to 3000 and the boost gauge went into vac instead of pressureising. im at a loss as to what it is, i made sure that all the intercooler piping was clear and that the earth was good to the engine but for some reason the bloody car just wont run properly.. has any one got any suggestions as to what i should try?

thank you for any help

Yes, it is very difficult to build any kind of boost in neutral as the engine is under no load.

One of the common things people do, is put the fuel lines on backwards.

Hey guys,

yea i checked the fuel lines, reversed them and when i did that it woudlnt start at all. i have also checked the afm already which i unplugged then tried to start the car and it didnt make any difference.

question, if the car is only running on 2 cylinders will that make it do everything i mentioned? i suspect that maybe a couple of the injectors r blocked up. does anyone have any stock items that i can buy off them?

thanks for clearing up the boost problem, i didnt even think about the engine not having any load on it.

thanks for your help guys

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey guys,

it turns out that one of my injectors isnt firing and my afm is gone! i can start the car without it plugged in and it runs a little rough but nothing compared to what was happening. in any case i plugged it back in while it was running and it just died.

thanks for your help!
