So...... I've been trying to sell my car as-is and there was totally zero interest in her. So made the decision to strip her down and bring her back to stock (well as much as I could be bothered with)

Here:

Ended up selling pretty much everything, and purchased all stock parts. Spent the better part of today/tonight putting her all back together. Damn those stock turbo lines are a total b1tch!!!!!!!!!

After assembling everything, fired up her, and realised the O2 was playing up, reading extremely lean (duh! forgot to recalibrate it when I disconnected it).

Took her for a drive around the hood, I could not believe how smooth the power delivery was, very impressed!!

Totally different to the aftermarket turbo, I was so impressed how I was getting full boost (a whopping 0.5bar LOL) at 2200rpm compared to 3300rpm

But did notice, damn the stock ECU knows how to burn fuel, was getting like 10.2:1 A/F on full load!

Anyways, goodnight everyone.. I was just excited so decided to type sh1t haha :)

P.S. I have never sworn this much in 1x day, fk you stock turbo lines!

Had to take my old R33 GTST back to standard a couple times due to defects in the past and each time driving it as a stocker it felt quite nice having near instant boost... but then it runs out of puff earlier too.

its surprising how smooth skylines feel with just a nice, quiet exhaust. i was clearing some defects and had to run the standard exhaust. it was so damn smooth and quiet - i just wished there was an aftermarket exhaust that felt like that. i've been through 4 exhaust systems since, in search of the perfect one!

After a long search I found a dead stock low k 40th anniversary 33 that drives like it just left the showroom.

This is one of the best point to point cars i have ever owned. Response is instant and it cruises effortlessly.

We tend to forget how good they are as a stocker because we rarely see them that way.

Oh one, well chapter of my life over :D

Next is property, then GT-R.. natural progression ahahhahaha

'Tis good you got a plan > priorities > action (> occasional mistake > learn from mistake) > more well-rounded

Damn, how is that possible?! I don't get that till 3k rpm in a gtt...

ditto. the car was so good factory i was determined to keep it that way as long as possible. it lasted from 33,xxxkm to 116,xxxkm with only R34 SMIC and a full 3" exhaust (fujitsubo catback, VERY quiet) before i finally cracked.. bilsteins, king springs, whiteline sway bars, R33 GTR wheels. the stock suspension is OK for the odd fang through the hills but when it gets old you might as well upgrade it not just replace it :D (I do love the odd track day, and I'd like it to do better there).

I now have a car which handles AWESOME when you push it but it's not as compliant as a daily any more. nissan really got it spot on for a GT car, the only reason i went harder suspension was for track days.

i was getting 14psi from my stock turbo by about 2700rpm in my 33 :P

maybe you need to up the timing a bit, or maybe you need a boost controller (or if you have one, a better one, but i was only using one of the cheap turbotech manual ones). but you also have to remember that the exhaust housing on the 34 turbos is a touch bigger.

Ahh good thinking, the stock thing is sh!t, it's been modified somehow to give the 14. I will get a tune one day, that might help too. Still happy with 3300, I have a mate witha soarer not making full boost till 4500. It's epic after that though

I got bored, I advanced the timing on the CAS

car runs better :ermm:

AND I've notice the A/F is smack bang on 12.0:1 on full load believe it or not? but it does fall down to 11.3:1 towards 6k...

I got bored also, drove to the blue mountains and back, did 370kms and the red fuel light isn't even on yet

Staring to like the car stock, it's quiet pleasant, just sucks when going uphill, actually have to change gears now lol

CAS is the thingy on the EXH Cam right?

If so, i did that on the dyno last time i had it on for a fuel tidy up just to see what it would do.

:P Works a treat. Any more and it was worse, and any less it was worse again. It was by fluke we put it in the perfect spot 1st time round.

(Stock ECU with SAFC BTW.. hence the nasty flatspot) Thats what we were trying to smooth out too. The dip. Achieved!

And as always. Forget the peak. NZ Hub dynos..

Oh, and Edit: I believe it was run in 3rd. Still has Speed cut hence redic. torque figures and ratio.

Kakimoto N1 rev exhaust has a midmuffler it's damn quiet, even quieter than stock! I love it.
