MAD082 thats a good idea send it to today tonight and A current afair to see what they think.

I recently got my R34 GTT and i have been pull over a couple of times. I dont have any mod except a turbo back canon which came with the car during import. Everything else is dead stock nothing else has been change except after market head deck. Which I doubt is a defect.

They said a canon is completely illegal and you can not have it. My car pass compliance with a canon. At the end I did not get fine but got a warning. I seriously think the police is just wasting time especially the highway patrol.

I'm on the fence on this one. In one regard they catch those idiots doing 180 etc that give me the shits. On the other hand, driving home from work today:

Had a Aurion Sportivo with headlights and fog lights on at what, 5.30pm, constantly provoking me and riding right up my ass to get me to push it (I had a massive gap in front), then I look closer, there's the little camera/flashy bits on the dash.

I DON'T THINK SO. I'd given NO indication over the last 5km that I was going to speed or do something stupid, so, let's try and bait him to get the fine out of him! Nice to see even though other people were going around me at 5-10km/h over.

I can't wait for the day that entrapment laws are made in Australia. Ridiculous. Only reason I would have considered speeding up would be so I can slot into another lane so he can piss off and get off my ass.

I would think the point the cops are making is if it doesnt comply then sort it out. Until such time stop driving it

Last Thursday at the DECC i became aware of the issues. And Friday spent the day in Royal North Shore Hospital post injuries..... Saturday, no issues, yes i went out on a short trip to the city and back. Sunday went to collect the new air intake box. On my way home, was defected despite me telling the cops i was actually trying to make good. This week the car will comply. BUT it will not stop me from being pulled over. I have to travel 3 to 4 times a week into lots of areas of Sydney i have no choice. The car is a daily driver. So in each day, is it acceptable to be stopped for NOT committing an offense many times in each day.... As for car issues .... is it really justifiable that my intercooler 'may be' in excess of emissions or that my Pod Filter is not in a box? REALLY? is this the Governments best shot at Climate Control and Change? As someone here said a standard SUV will admit more emissions into the air than a turbo Skyline.

Your a cop, i seriously don't expect you to understand so thats ok too. As this is the first performance car i have ever owned, i was not aware of any issues with the car. I thought by having it inspected pre purchase would be fine and any issues raised. I also thought the ENG Cert would be fine (as suggested by the cops them selves) I can see your point clearly, and i hear it each and every day from the Police to back you up. But if you read the first posts i made here, you can see (despite the car issues) i was working on complying the day i found out there were issues. I`m not superman, i cant make these things happen the moment i become aware of them (over the last 3 days 2 of which were Saturday and Sunday.) and all this carry on still doesn't address the harassment its over the top for my car being stopped!!!!

No i'm not actually. I use to be but I am no longer in the force.

Police have every right to stop any one on the road, whether is be for an RBT or a vehicle inspection. You chose not to make it a priority to fix the issues up with the car. You chose to continue driving an illegally modified car regardless of what you've been told and know.

Your car is illegally modified. Deal with the consequences!

BTW, changing the number plates doesn't do anything.

heh

well you've mentioned that the car doesn't comply and we've seen by the engine pay pic that it doesn't. you're learning the very hard way.

you totally missed the point i was making but thats okay.

That does not surprise me, I saw an article Current Affair spoke about last week on TV saying the State of NSW has a target of 430 million dollars in mind from driving offenses next year... The police are going to have to bring most of that in, so ppl tailgating you, filming you, doing whatever it takes to raise money will become common place (and is) not just for people who own performance cars but every motorist.

I'm loving the hypocrisy here.

Either way: Keep in mind you're on a public forum. We enjoy cordial relations with the police; while reasonable debate is encouraged, straight-out attacks are not. Consider yourself not welcome.

what? hiding in bushes with radar guns getting people doing 5-10km over the limit, what about the post above where the cop tries to initiate someone to speed by tailgating. Im just praying to see on the news one day of a Truck crushing one of the ford territory mobile speed camera's with the operator inside.

i really don't understand these threads ;) maybe i haven't owned my liner for long enough (8 odd months) and my car looks anything but stock and i've never had a problem with the police (then again im not a retard on the roads) been told to pull over twice and have been curious and helpfull both times and never been looked at twice :S guess i either have a friendly face or i've been lucky enough to dodge the hard asses?

That was me that the cop tried to run...

What I'm saying is that while you can express dissatisfaction, having an attack on intelligence etc just isn't on in the NSW section. Given that we're Australia's largest Skyline group, police DO regularly read these pages.

I'm not sticking up for anyone here, I can see both sides of this. While I don't agree with hiding in the bushes etc, I agree with other things they do (personally I'd like to see them just cruising around more often; much more of a deterrent for Commodore drivers and P-Platers wanting to be idiots).

In the same token, while Nathan is getting targeted (whether it be unfairly or not, as people have said, the numberplate may be recorded in their database as a known "hoon" car or something), and is making an effort to make things right (and props to you too, took me ages to bother with anything like that), and I understand it's a daily driver, the point is he's aware of the targeting and the best way to mitigate a risk of being pulled over again is to not drive it.

*shrug* Plenty of bits and pieces for either side here.

EDIT::

And yeah, Joel, I've owned my car almost 4 years now, and when I get pulled over for RBT I'm polite, have a bit of a laugh ("had anything to drink tonight?" "hah, i wish!"), and be helpful. It's not doing it cause I wanna get let off, it's because being nice costs nothing, and they're doing a job they might not particularly want to be doing. I know what I'd rather be doing than standing on the side of the road getting people to blow into things: LOTS.

Probably because ive had a bad experience. Cop did the same thing to me, tailgating me i hit my breaks he rear ends me. Loss of license for 3 months and i had to pay damages. When i requested the video to take him to court he said it wasnt recording. Cop sad i was driving recklessly for slamming my breaks for no apparent reason even though HE REAR ENDED ME. Now as above has mentioned im targeted even after changing my number plates a few times doesnt help.

I give up.

You knowingly drive an illegally modified car.

Enjoy

Heya,

Your right, the best way NOT to get pulled over is not to drive it, and the Police tell me this mostly on each occasion but express it as " sell your car or get used to it" and comments like " we don't like these types of cars and you will be stopped each time we see it" that's hard to take given i have not acted in a manner unsafe or caused attention by being a hoon. Im 44, being a hoon isn't really my thing but i do enjoy a nice ride, don't have much else .....And i consider myself to be well principled in that if i have not committed an offense don't stop me! each time i am stopped and checked they can clearly see i have no record, no outstanding antythings, in fact before owning this car i have never had constant contact with Police in my life. I belive i have the right to own the car i chose and given the amount of times im being stopped i also believe i should not be discriminated against, even 'blackmailed' in a sense "sell your car OR get used to it" That 'reasoning' being supported by some/many (not all) members of the Police is unacceptable and a morel breach of civil liberties.... and human decency

Fair call. All I can suggest is throw out a WTB or skim the FS sections for the airbox and BOV. Someone might lend you a SMIC, you never know. If you're running stock boost though, a SMIC is pretty much all you need; but I can understand the desire for the FMIC and filling the hole at the front :D Again, as I said, black mesh and paint the FMIC black. I'll take some closeups of my beaten up front bar on the weekend or something.

Bit rough to be hitting up a 44 year old though ;) Lemme guess, Penrith? I've heard a few things about the force out that way...

Most of these issues arise while driving into Sydney from the south, so once i hit Campbelltown area, or coming up or into Wollongong (Hospital Hill) , Goulburn as well and northern beaches. I only travel to hospitals and specialist, thats all the car is used for. I dont carry passengers, kids, young teens hanging out looking like gangsters etc, again nothing outstanding. I do think there is more to this, something i obviously do not know for the car to be stopped as many times in any day. PS. i do go shopping once every so often .... not very much at all.

just remember this

these people pulling you over have nohing else they are unhappy with the way ther life unfolded - this is it for them day in day out - no wonder they hide in bushes / ask qusions to trick you into admiting guilt

come on woulden't you be angry if that was you?

oh thats right some of us have some dignity and choose to get through life with out treating people like crap or using deception to get a fine out of a motorist

sorry life did not work out for you mr police man

Its changed my opinion of Police, i see the nastiness, the unwarranted attitude many members display and pretty well the HATE...., i am tending to agree that a lot of people with questionable psychological issues seem to end up in the Police Force.

    • Howdy friends, So another weird one today, I was looking into replacing some broken clips holding the front grille for the R32 GTR (part number 01553-03831), and noticed the brackets which are supposed to hold the grille in place were also missing 😑. I do recall seeing this issue many years ago, but didn't fix it at the time. A quick look on eBay and I was able to find the genuine brackets, along with all the screws which suited the headlights (part numbers 26042-08U05,26092-08U05). Happy days!....  Once they arrived however there was an extra nut in the packaging which implied that there should also be a bolt or a stud, and sure enough, after a bit of searching I found this thread from 2013, and @Ants clearly shows a stud should be present. Reading around a bit more, it's possible the headlights on my car are the "povo pack" headlights as mentioned by @funkymonkey in this thread way back in 2008. This could explain why the studs are missing on my set of headlights. Looking at the headlight diagram I wasn't able to see a suitable part number for the stud itself. The headlight did indeed have a recess that looked like it would accept a stud, but interestingly no thread or anything obvious how the stud would be affixed to the headlight, I suspect it may have been glued in, press fit, or melted into the plastic at the factory. Another member may be able to clarify if they happen to have a genuine set of N1 headlamps. The only thing we have to work with within the recess is a keyway which likely is there to prevent the stud from rotating within the recess. In any case, back to 3D printing, I put together a model which acts like a pug with a friction fit inside this recess, making use of the keyway so it doesn't rotate while tightening a bolt. Printing in TPU will allow it to slightly swell making a nice snug fit without cracking the part. I've designed the adaptor it to accept an 20 mm M6 bolt (stainless with a cap head in my case), as opposed to the standard M5 stud and I made use of the standard galvanised split washer that came with the genuine brackets from Nissan. Once the bolt and screws were all in place, giving the bracket a gentle shake gave the classic "shaking the car" feeling, very solid, which gives me confidence this is going to be able to hold on much better than the janky solution which seems to have been here for the past decade or so. Overall I'm really pleased with how this turned out and maybe there are more people out there running these headlights without a centre stud at all! • Hey everyone, This is my first post apart of the introduction. I tried searching a bit on the forum but couldn't really get a straight answer. I got the car to my mechanic as I felt it being weak. It seems that it was missing on two cylinders due to the injectors. I had all my injectors clean and the car runs much better. The mechanic also confirmed my suspicions that the cat is clogged and needs to be tackled asap. The cat rattles a bit and the hot exhaust warning frequently lights up when driving after getting the injectors clean. In my introduction I was asked about what modification I might be interested in and mentioned a cat delete. From what I was told, this is not really beneficial on the RB20DE and there are more cons than pros.  Could perhaps anyone give some suggestions on what the best course of action would be since the current cat is toast and needs to be removed/replaced anyway? I can also sometimes smell a strong smell of fuel, but I'm not sure if this is related.
    • Hope the cans went down well at least
    • 255 can't go wrong with the price.
    • When I was replacing my pump due to being stranded in the wrong state, I went with the Deatschwerks 320lph kit. It is a direct plug in to the stock wires, harness, everything. It comes with a plug... but you can plug the OEM plug directly into this thing. https://justjap.com/products/deatschwerks-dw300-fuel-pump-nissan-s13-silvia-r32-r33-r34-skyline-c34-stagea?currency=AUD Downside: Won't actually flow that much on boost if you want to push it on E85, but it's comparable to the 040/255 etc. Little more actually.
