You won't hit any where near 300kw on the GT-RS unless you use nitrous like me lol.

Also are you sure it is running on 10psi? The stock HKS actuator is a 1 bar one.

i recall the the boost before it was tuned was "10psi" which i think is the stock level as you may remember PM-R33 from a while ago.

today when i picked it up it hit about "16psi" which i assume is now why i have boost.

Looking at this shootout graph from 70hp@10psi is a steady climb to 245hp@35psi_g then climbs to MAX:258.9hp@37psi_g

do you have a boost gauge?

if you are running 16psi you should be getting anywhere between 300-350rwhp

PM-R33 im assuming the gt-rs is like the gt2835 and that the actuator is adjustable if so the tuner could have turn it down to 10psi if the fuel pump isn't working.

Luthor666, no one can give you a direct asnwer on here as they didn't tune the car best if your not happy is to ring up tuesday and ask what is the go what they tune it for? what psi and why it is not making much power they will be able to tell you what is the go.

failing that just take it to another workshop, however a working fuel pump and ebc is a minimal if you want to push some high numbers. HKS rating on the GT-RS is 400 or 420PS, 400hp = 298.4kw, which is really push the turbo and i dont know if it would make it. If you really want the figure try 22psi and see what happens lol

this is my "now problem" the sheet says next to nothing and is almost embarrassing but on the way home i thought hey its only responsive, but feels "weaker" than before, then i hit a straight and got it to about 4000rpm and then BOOM instant boost (not having it for so long the boost almost scared me) but then i thought this is Great! but my dads is rated at 224.6hp with "no" major mods what so ever but mine has had countless $$$ spent and only 258.9hp could maybe the sheet be wrong?? because it feels better than it says?

Not sure what I am ment to be remembering?

So wait, what? So what boost is it running? You are all over the place on qouting the boost it is running.

I aint assuming anything. I have a GT-RS and therefore know that it has a 1 bar adjustable actuator.

That aint rated at the wheels. The average figure for a GT-RS is around 250-260rwkw. Most I pushed out of mine on the shithouse Microtech was mid 260's without nitrous.

Dude just post up the dyno graph otherwise no one can help.

I have a GT-RS too, and I pulled 338rwhp (252rwkw) on 15 psi.

Have thought about bumping the boost up a little more but meh, its fast as it is, I'm not willing to melt things for 10kw.

260rwhp aint right unless something is screwed.

months ago YOU (PM) were the one that advised me on what i needed to do to get my boost back and running again

now i have taken that and this is what i have

BEFORE:

10psi (stock)

almost no boost at all with GT-RS

AFTER:

installed injectors and ECU

tuned to 16psi

shootout sheet peaks at 37.0psi_g @258.9hp

but the numbers of 258.9hp doesn't seem right against an almost completely stock r33 tuned to 224.6hp

i will try to post it

Ok, so 193kw@16psi is obviously telling you something is very wrong as you can see by SoFreshSoClean's post you should be around the 250kw mark and I was about the same on that boost level.

Start by checking the obvious things: Collapsed cat, skipped tooth on timing belt, CAS failing etc.

Best bet, take it back to your tuner and discuss it with him.

but this is doing my head in

could this be all to do with the bleed valve and not a "proper" boost control?

it was the only thing bypassed to make it work on the dyno

Edited by Luthor666

Yeah dude my engine is stock, just have a power fc, (real) walbro fuel pump, 550cc injectors, intercooler, exhaust, pod filter, and greddy ebc.

I have heard of up to 300rwkw with a GT-RS but they seem to be few and far between..

so if the boost control is likely to be why this is so wrong, why would it read 16psi @4000rpm in forth? but feel like so much more

my only other guess is these numbers in HP should be in KW

because isnst a stock factory r33 183kw

Edited by Luthor666

Righteo so you can tell you have boost control problems. It's ramping up fairly nicely to 16-16.5psi but then falling over to about 12.5-13psi. But either way even on around 13-14psi it should be making quite a lot more power.

You can't "feel" boost pressure. You could be running 20psi but still make crap power and have a slow car if something is wrong.

If the numbers say HP, it's in HP, simple as that. You can switch everything on the dyno graph to different measurements, a lot of people like using HP. A stock R33's engine is rated at 183kw, not at the wheels.

Like I said, take it back and discuss it with them. They are the ones doing the work, if you aint happy, tell them.

Boost control problem is really obvious from your dyno graph, get it fixed will make a signigicant difference. Have said that I've made more power on a stock turbo, so there are other issues at play here, but need a dyno graph vs. AFRs to tell you anymore. I'm sure the workshop could tell you all of this and more is you asked :P

    • Right, here's a video of the basic operation at least.  This is what you can expect day to day when you turn the car on and it boots from standby.  The only thing from a media point of view I haven't gotten working is for it to autoplay plexamp when it turns on from standby (it works from cold boot) but that's more of a plexamp problem as it will autoplay other music players.  Also attached is my one stray cable.  It's part of the screen's wiring adapters but there's just nowhere for it to go in my car.  I've just now done a bit of research and found a matching port on a 2010-2014 head unit with BOSE.  Mine has no BOSE so that's that case pretty much closed I think.  Plugging in the Infiniti AC panel basically did nothing for me, so that's a dead end as well.  Next port of call is to mess with this CANBUS module and see what I can find from it.  I found this resource containing the DBC files for a 2010+ G37 : https://github.com/icecube45/Dash_InfinitiG37/blob/master/InfinitiG37.dbc I'll now have something to go from when I try to extract my CANBUS data so I can see if the HVAC Mode, Fan Speed, Temperature, etc. match and also the gear shifter position.  It's a pretty big assumption that it's just mismatched CAN signals but considering all the devices in the CAN network are talking to each other (AC can be fully adjusted just with no info on screen) it might be a safe one.  I will report back WhatsApp Video 2025-02-26 at 12.49.10.mp4
    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
    • To be fair - you see the same thing for every clutch. There's always someone making an installation error.
