hi guys

im hearing a really loud rattel in my gear box when im just sitting there idling, but when i push my clutch pedal in the noise goes away? i thought it would be my thrust bearing so i went and changed it with a new one and greased it up.the noise is still there.....:/

the noise seems to be getting louder day after day..

im also hearing a loud winding noise when i drive...from 1st to 2nd,2nd to 3rd and goes away in 4th but when im sitting on about 70kms+ in 5th it comes back

... and the other night i did a burnout and the noise is so much worse :P haha

im thinking gearbox is on it way out ? and will go very soon? haha

so i thought i would ask u guys if it could be anything, before i go and replace my gearbox(dont really want to )

any help much appreciated !

soooo...DIY fixable orrrr new gearbox ??

+1 Cluster shaft bearings. If the noise goes away in 4th that is the only time torque is not being transfered through the cluster shaft.

Gearbox rebuild. Unless you have the pullers required, you won't be able to disassemble it

yea. what he said ^

if you plan on keeping the car for some time then your better off getting it rebuilt, instead of replacing with another gearbox of unknown condition (highly likely been thrashed also)

an r33 box will handle a fair bit more punishment then an r32 box and more or less just bolts up so if you can afford it, get one of those
