hey all,

just picked up my car from being tuned.

have put a forged 25 into it and running a gt3076r with the .60 front and .82 ext gate rear.

high mount manifold with a 38mm gate running off it.

fueled by a gtr lift pump fot surge tank to 044 external.

740cc injectors

tomei poncams, gtr valve springs.

afm is a z32 which is now located in the cooler pipe infront of the plenum

plazmaman plenum with stock TB

now i have it running on e85 and a eboost controlling 15psi flat.

i made 282rwkw.

i previously made 279rwkw on 16psi on bp98.

my question is, should i see better results than this?

i know the plazmaman and poncams wont give me more figures but better low down/mid range.

your thoughts?

E85 generally should see 30-40rwkw gain on most street style setups.

That's the gain I've seen across what, 30 or 40 cars now and seems about "norm".

Either way though you need more boost in there, a 3076 isn't doing much @ 16psi on a 2.5ltr. 20-22psi is when the show will start.

I concur, which doesn't normally happen with me and Nismoid...

15psi is rather homosexual for a built motor, its weak sauce even for a stock motor

Same Dyno? Seems about right for that turbo and boost imo

are the injectors holding it back from more boost? ( i don't know a great deal about E85 , i'm asking because i'll be building something similar)

Exactly, I wouldnt think 740cc injectors would be holding you back! Joeyjoey... has 320rwkw with E85 on 555cc injectors (pretty sure anyway). What duty cycle are the injectors running at?

i didnt ask % but he said theres a LITTLE room to play.

i did ask for a SAFE tune, and i emphasized the SAFE...

i think afr's are 11.5 ish?

AFR's for E85 is not the same as AFR tuning for PULP.

So you're saying for e85 AFR's of 12 flat are quite conservative?

What's a good AFR to tune for with e85?

12-12.3 is what a friend of mine tunes E85 at, and by no means is that 'on edge' either.

Apparently much either side of that and it doesnt go so well anyway.

not even that. e85 loves being rich, seen heaps of cars make more power going richer. most recent one that comes to mind was an R35 that kept gaining power as it was fattened up near 10:1 (on a lambda scale calibrated for petrol obviously). i *think* with E85, EGT's come into it more. its not balancing A:F ratio and hp, but EGT's sort of make it 3 dimensional if that makes sense?

Mine blows the spark out at 10.5, although I am running 1.1mm gap on the plugs. No black smoke of course but a strong ethanol smell, and im sure its not good for the cat I just put in. (for some stupid reason)

Remember there's more oxygen in the fuel, so rich should still make good power.

True, 12+ is fine. i tune in lambda though so 0.84 on E85. We have found atm that pump e85 is a little more like e75 so we fatten it up abit we are seeing a 0.5-0.7 jump in afr or 0.05 lambda towards LEAN when refilling with e85 so be aware.

    • Pete knows these cars well, he does my car too, if he was concerned about the traction arm length for your use he would have said so. Do you have adjustable bushes in that arm, maybe he got enough adjustment there (or maybe the bump steer was not material for your use of the car)
    • Hmm. Yes. I should have been clearer. 1000s for Haltech, for extra headroom. 725s for Nistune. You might even be OK with 640s, but if the possible power ends up much more than 300 rwkW you will run out of headroom on the 640s. That would probably be OK and a signal to not push it to that sort of power with Nistune anyway. At that level you probably do want to be thinking about engine protection functions. Oh, and all of that presumes 98 only, not E85. Well....the 1000s would allow you to run E85 at ~300rwkW territory, again, maybe sort of running out of headroom. Hard to tell with E85 - depends on the tuner as to how rich they like to set it up.
    • Yes.  The only scenario I can imagine when the answer isn't yes, is if you drive like there is highway patrol behind you at all times.  If your car currently runs, enjoy it and keep saving. Better costs more, keep saving until you can budget the better ECU. It's worth it.  Nope. Plenty of us making >300kw on unopened motors. Mine is unopened and makes about 350kw if I turn everything up, its fine (lots of caveats here, how the car will be used/abused, how long you expect the engine to last between rebuilds, how has the engine been maintained prior to coming into your ownership, etc etc).   
    • Sorry just wanting to clarify, at this power goal, which should I be going? Also, More info regarding suspension, the rear upper camber arms were used to get the camber back to i believe around -0.5 ~ -1 degree (@ Road and Race in Rydalmere), I forgot the exact figure, but ALOT less camber than what it came originally which was like -2.5degrees. Are the traction arms still recommended? The bilsteins from SydneyKid, they've got 400lb/in fronts & 275/in in the rear, revalved to his specs. Intercooler, I'm just having a look at some on Rakuten.jp and some other japanese sites. Might get something from back there, GReddy, Blitz or HPI, all crossflow. Looking at roughly $450-$500 AUD + shipping... Theres not many choices except that chinese branded Justjap unless you go for blitz return flow. Yeah, only downside with Haltech is the price ahhaha, so expensive, and with all the sensors if I go that route... $$$$$ yeesh. Are headstuds/gaskets needed for <300akw?
