Hi all,

was talking gearboxes with some friends over the weekend and it raised a question.

Do the r33 gtst boxes have 'double synchros'?

I was under the impression that reverse didnt have a synchro and that they had shot peened gears in 1st 2nd and 3rd but thats all i know

purely for my own information, so any info would be interesting to hear

what exactly do you mean by "double" synchros?? i've rebuilt my own rb25 box, pic attached of it during re-assembly, you can see some of the synchro's there but there is only one baulk ring per gear?? and reverse does not have a synchro, hence why it wont engage nicely (if at all) when the vehicle is moving

The gears are a tight fit and hard to get pullers around etc. Wouldnt reccomend it unless you have the right gear and experience.

All the bearings are needle rollers and slide on and off (bar the end bearings which are tapered roller)

Shouldnt have much trouble getting them off
