its a scam... i saw the same ad 2. It was pulled from carsales 4 days later. i emailed jst 2 check b4 it got pulled. got the same story but tell tale signs were that:

1. the price is 2 good 2 be true. if genuine sell it for 10 not 6.7

2. the name of the person who sent an email to me with the same 'my daughter is sick story' did not match the name of the person selling it from the original ad. if they really wanted to sell it they would have given contact details with the ad.

3. i asked several easy questions that any genuine seller would be easily able to answer. i got no reply.

4. Most importantly: ITS A SCAM!

ppl who do this stuff really pisses me off! good luck with ur search buddy :D

Speaking of scams, here's my story from the weekend:

Friday night I received a txt (no reply number just a name that i don't even have in my contact list, that said:

"Hi, What is the firm price for the car on carsales? Contact me directly via petercook73 at gmail dot com"

So i replied Saturday stating he can come see my car on the weekend, there's more pictures at this link etc, and left my mobile again. This is the reply almost immediately:

"Thanks for the response,i will take it for $23,500 including PayPal surcharges since i am interested in the immediate purchase for my DAD.he just moved to the Malaysia, where this is needed and i will be making use of a shipping company to have this picked up from you and have it delivered to him .Further arrangements will be made with you in regards to the pick up once i have paid you.

I would appreciate if you email me with more pictures (if available or not) too since i won't be be able to see this in person, what's the PayPal email to send funds to in order for me to pay you ASAP."

HHAHAHAHA Yeah Right! AS if i'm going to sell to this guy what a joke! so now the only question is what do i reply with.... and has anybody else been scammed like this?

Call me naive but where is the scam if the money is paid and he has the car picked up?

rego is XR34X

The car was actually bought by a board member (XR34X) in 2007 from an import yard in Fawlkner - maybe if you can get in touch with him he could fill you in on what happened to the car. You can find his original post (car photos match the carsales ad - right down to the wheels) here:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Pu...p;mode=threaded

I sent a message to the ad - it seemed too good to be true but might have been worth a look if it had known issues for repair (which would lower the price). But I got the reply about the sick daughter as well - makes no sense, medical bills usually have long terms of payment, an 8yo isn't going to be untreated for serious illness in Australia and you'd be trying to get as much money as possible wouldn't you?

The reply came from a different name than was on the ad, the name on the reply is actually an American broadway singer/actress, and I got asked for my location 3 times with no info about the seller location. None of my specific questions were answered, the reply seemed to be very manufactured - eg the car model was copy/pasted from the ad in my reply.

Don't touch it.

they also use replies etc that they get for hueristics and use that data to co-ordinate other scams etc

so by just replying even if you trying to waste their time they use your responses to build dictionaries of real human responses and help build their spam tools etc

that's all well and good Paul, they can use as many heuristics as they like.. but my response is usually "how about, you go f**k yourself" so they may want to include a filter to exclude those sort of replies. :(

ok guys she replied with this email

Hi Jarrad,

I apologize for my late reply but I`m located in Adelaide right now at Hospital with my daughter, the thing is i have to stay here with her and i don`t have time to stay and meet with all my potential buyers, that is why i gave to a shipping company that will ship it to the next owner in max 2-3 days(on my cost).

The sale will be managed through eBay under their Vehicle Purchase Protection program since they offer the highest rate of safety and reliability for transactions.

Through their Vehicle Purchase Program you will have 5 days to inspect and test it before proceeding to the payment step. The car will arrive with all the documentation's required for registration and the keys. I will send you all the papers and documents (clear title, bills of sale, manual) to be able to register it with no problem. The clear title and the bill of sale will be both signed so you can become owner of the car on spot.

If you will decide not to keep it, the same shipping company will pick up from you without any charges.

eBay will complete the invoice in your name and will instruct me to start the shipping once they will verify the delivery address.

So if you agree please email me your full name and address so I can start the official procedure trough eBay and they will send the invoice

and the details how the affiliated Dependable Auto Shippers company will shipp the vehicle.(closed cargo, time for delivery...)

PS: I paid the eBay registration fee and you don't have to pay anything else.

Best Regards

Blessings !!!

hmm, spooky. i saw an r34 25gt on carsales a few weeks ago, it was white, a manual, a 2001 model, two door coupe, and had done 62000km and the guy was asking for $10500 (where he could easily get at least $15000 - $18000 for such a clean N/A R34). there was no phone number provided so i tried contacting him through carsales and got no reply, a week later the advertisement was removed.

definitely must've been rebirthed, stolen or whatever. i thought it was too good to be true anyway but just thought i'd inquire about it lol.
