hey guys im trying to work out why my headlight (lowbeam) on the lhs doesnt work, so far i have checked the bulb, fuse, i have checked the wiring with a multimeter with the headlights turned on it reads around 12v so theres power getting to the bulb, apparently the switches fail on the r32 due to the way nissan wired it.

when i get time ill pull the switch out an investigate it further the thing that seems strange to me is if the switch isnt working properly then why is there still power at the plug (into the bulb) when the light switch is on.

any suggestions would be great thanks guys

both of my skylines have done this. yes the switches fail.. dont take it to an auto electrician i did that the first time with my first skyline and got charged $400, they got a genuine one ex japan for $300 odd and supposedly the other $100 for diagnosing/fitting.

next time it happened i got a 2nd hand one for $15.. took 15 minutes to fit myself.. go figure. even if you go through a few 2nd hand ones its still miles cheaper than going new.

even though the bulb appears fine, try another bulb that you know works, just to rule it out completely. one time i thought the switch was gone again but i still had 12v at the headlight although the bulb looked good i stuck another one in it and away it went.

cheers jonboy

the first thing i did was swap the bulbs around and they are both fine, yeah ill get hold of a new switch and that should do the trick, i just thought it was weird that the wires going to the bulb still had power going there.
