Hey all,

Im looking to purchase a new set 245 / 40 / 18's for the gtr.

things i need from the tyres:

-need to last reasonably long as the gtr is my daily!

-not too fussy on grip as the damn thing has too much anyway!

-cannot be an excessivly noisy tyre

-high speed happy :(

So far my options are;

federal 595s

160 each from qld

115 for delivery

total of $755

have tried to find these locally but cannot find them cheaper than 255 each :/

these will be going on 10" wheels and will have a slightly stretched nothing hardcore but ive herd that the federals look wierd when stretched or something?

also ive been quoted 150 each supplied and fitted by a local dude for the same size tyre but in a brand name called Strata, apparently its the same as nankang just different name? anyone running these atm?

to be honest i rather buy locally so if anyone knows where i can get a decent set of tyres for around 150-180 ea mark please let me know

cheers

oz

I've got 595's on the front of my car, been on there since I bought the car 2 years ago and still miles of tread left! Mind you my car is only RWD, I'm not 100% sure how long they would last under torque...

You should PM Hank Scorpio, bit of a guru when it comes to tyres and wheels :(

on the silvia forums aaron or "westy" is his forum name, hit him up i got his number if u want it, i think he has the federals for around the same price, and can fit them and balance for you too. he lives in forrestfield pm me if you want his number.

Hi mate,

I just got new set for Federals fitted to my r34. There the 595's SS size 245-40-18 (smaller wheels be cheaper)

I got mine on ebay from http://myworld.ebay.com.au/tyresforless2009/

cost 150 each and delivery was $70 to SA via reg courier. took like 2 days to arrive from syd to adl.

I recommend you go to them as they are a business in syd you can call up and talk to etc and not some backyard.

I got a few qoutes around adel and all were big $$$ and pretty bad brands like Duron or diamond n crap.

I took my new tyres to tyrepower n they were shocked i got em that price. Fitting/balance and full allignment was 120 for the lot.

as for performance wise.. tyres are pretty good so far! there been postitive alot reviews on them already. From my r34 gtt, the handle well, not sure about in da wet yet and are low noise not to bad if you have an exhaust doubt u hear anything lol

if any questions feel free pm me :(

Hope that helps :/

no complaints, high speed all smooth, good grip.

They are a budget performance tyre. For the price your paying their best compared to any other tyres place will tell you. My old tyres were around Dunlop SP series and to be honest i cant tell the difference.

I was in your position too and did alot research and calling and visiting tyres shops at the end of the day... same story "yeah this well do well on ya car rar rar rar" i looked it up on review forums and what they recommended me was crap.

tyresforless FTW =) for 150 for r18's bargain! Give them a call.

Cheers

well im inclined to trust people with personal reviews on an item rather than sum1 whos making money off me :(

very good, i have a full set of nexens on my stock gtr 33 wheels and they werent the smoothest tyre out, they are a pretty hard compound but last forever!

anywho cheers again!

595 will last forever, they are a hard compound. however once you get some serious heat into them they start to wear very badly (however, i only have had this issue drifting with the tyres so as i street tyre you will have no issue with this)

They offer a pretty good grip level for the price. however comparing it to my RE001r they are shithouse, but as seeing re001r cost like $250-$300 each for 17inch 235 (compare to $110 each)

I have never used the 595 in wet but i have heard they are pretty average due to being such a hard compond

+1

I would never put 595's on my car

sorry to resurrect this tread, but where do you buy tyres from locally this days and what you would recommend...?

current looking at Federal 595 and KU31 budget wise.

thanks in advance!
