Its just the lesser of 2 evils. Option 1 cops chase, moron runs, very dangerous situation created. Option 2 cops don't chase, moron doesn't run but probably gets caught later on.
I can't see where anybody has said that.

Ummm?

last i heard the council banned them as they were loosing revinue.................

No wonder some people attempt to create soverign states

Isn't there a guy in WA who made one? Top effort on his behalf, I think it was made yearrrrrs ago though. And I just thought the meter maids were tacky, tbh. Yeah, gangas in bikinis. Whoo. Some people seemed to like them though :(

Ummm?

Yes I still can't see where it has been said.

Try and read my posts completely while setting aside your predetermined opinions for a moment. If you still don't see my logic then point out where and how I'm wrong. Try and use some facts or realistic assumptions though, ridiculous claims like 1000 drug busts a day needing 500 choppers is just plain stupid.

Saying this argument is getting stupid because someone has an opinion different to your own is a bit narrow minded.

Who is being narrow minded here. have you read your own posts, apart from rambling a lot, you keep beating the same drum, over and over, so now I have a head ache, and I'm rage quitting from this thread.

Perhaps 500 choppers was a bit of an overstatement, lets say for instance you have the best pilots working around the clock you could get it down to 100 for the whole force, for those 1000 drug dealers. And if Matt's figure of a chopper costing $3000 a minute to keep in the air thats still $18,000,000 an hour, thats $432,000,000 a day. Even if you dumb down the numbers required even further for each bust your still looking at something that is still logistically impossible.

I completely agree with Prue. Its not the cops fault if the criminals decide to run and then crash into a car with a child in the back and end up up killing them. People need to realise that the police chase criminals for a reason to stop them from hurting more people before they can be put in jail and will no longer be a threat to society.

"- It's not the cops fault you're breaking the law

- It's not their fault that the person decides to try & get away"

Sorry, I was slightly out on my figure, it is roughly per hour... Costs:

$3,850 per hour flying time (Add an extra $183 per hour for servicing from below!)

$3,500 for a flight helmet

$384, 000 for a set of four main rotor blades

$5,000 for a 50-hour service and up to $25,000 for a 300-hour service

$250,000 for a main transmission

For a start 1000 drug busts a day is ridiculous. You wouldn't need a chopper for every drug bust either, obviously.

No where do I dispute this.

Its not my fault if you either can't read or are too narrow minded to try.

Oh I don't think you could make the numbers any dumber if you tried.

Holy shit helicopters are expensive. When I become a bajillionaire remind me not to buy one.

I was speaking hypothetically with 1000 a day, going roughly on figures based on population vs drug arrests there are roughly 328 per day on average Australia wide, so thats still at least 50 a day in a city like Melbourne or Sydney. Obviously there is going to be days where there are more arrests some days where there are none. That is still a massive number of arrests and a large number of police having to be used to apprehend said criminals, if like you suggest they want to make police chases safer that is still a massive increase in the polices resources and obviously their budget. What resources do you think would be required to make your plan work and how much would they cost? Where would the money come from?

You state that the Cops chasing a criminal is a greater evil than letting a criminal getting away and possibly never getting caught, okay thats your opinion but how can you reconcile the possibity of that criminal getting away then going on to reoffend? which considering the statistics for criminals reoffending the chances are quite high.

Everything we do in our society is done at the back end. If measures were put into place at the front end maybe some of the problems wouldn't exist.

And this costs the country a fortune.

I think these three sentences are the most valid in this WHOLE thread. The way this country is run is in a reactive manner instead of a proactive manner - in other words, we let the problems happen and escalate instead of preventing them from happening in the first place. Our "driver education system" (if you could call it that) is a prime example, but unfortunately it's not the only one.

Anyway, this thread is getting too feisty, and there are too many posts that come way too close to personal attacks. It started out as a discussion, but it's becoming an argument.

Thread locked. Please DO NOT open another thread in a similar vein.
