Hi All,

I am looking to purchase an R34 non-hicas rear cradle to replace my current R34 GTT one

a. to completely remove hicas

b. i want to replace cradle bushes and rear diff bushes anyway, my mechanical locker diff is really getting a lot of movement from the subframe

Questions?

Has anyone done this and/or can offer all the advise on the below?

R34 GTT Rear Suspension - front/rear upper control arms, A-Arm and toe rods/hicas unit

R34 GT Rear suspension -front/rear upper control arms, A-Arm and lower control arm and is that it, or is there another steering component here?

Can I just use my GTT hub connector assembly for all the non-hicas arms to connect to the sub-frame, or do I need to change and use the non-hicas hub parts to connect the arms to the GTT hub etc.

I know I could just get the hicas eliminator kit from the UK, drop the sub-frame and do the bushes, but thought I could re-new a sub-frame and get it ready to just swap out and eliminate hicas altogether, happy days ; )

Cheers

You dont need a "kit from the UK" just a lock bar that suits the 34. Lot of local sellers have these. SUPPORT THE LOCAL INDUSTRY!

Then just use the pineapples. Lot cheaper, and remember the subframe of the GTT is to suit the GTT. Why complicate things?

I agree with not over complicating things, but the lock bar is what everyone does to eliminate HICAS, and I would like to remove HICAS altogether. The rear toe arm bushes/tie rods need replacing and these are not cheap OEM parts and there are no aftermarket replacements, which is a real shame.

I also wanted to renew the subframe, sandblast, repaint and install, it's my daily so don't have time to warrant all that work ; (

+1 for the cheap option though!

Get the Cusco drag rod kit. Seriously don't stuff around with a new cradle. The electronic HICAS makes it literally two plugs to unclip and ziptie up under the car.

Speak to Jesse Streeter (www.jessestreeter.com) to get some air freighted over. So much cheaper than you would expect and I run them on my car. Can't recommend the product enough.

Hmmm, with the AUD $ so good atm, that might work out to be very cost effective.

Email sent to Jesse await response!

y would u change the rear end to a lower model, if anything u go to a gtr rear end....

then unbolt the hicas unit and cable to the 2 clips under the car, 2 hours of work and ur done....

    • See, that button sounds like perfection Duncan! My eyes really don't like light shining at them from a dash when I'm driving. Being part red colourblind, I've found for most cars that I can change colours on, I set everything to red, so my eyes see the elast amount of colour! I miss normal gauges in cars
    • bro, knowing the Japanese in  the 90's, i wouldn't be surprised if they shared components across their model lineup.
    • Maaaan so many "little" things  i rly hope my old RB20 would be "ok" and not too bad. I try to learn what and what not do i need. I look at crossmember at it looks different...even parts numbers are different. Wiring and all that i rly do not know...yeah someone mentioned the speedo thing. On that yoke clip. I rly do not know what can and cant be done "custom" so that is why iam asking to know and not be suprised 🙂  I know what it looks like
    • Oh, there's also the gearbox crossmember which will probably be different between the small box and the big box, and the wiring loom will probably need to be modified, because the plugs for the switches etc, will probably be different. And I think the speedo on the small box R34s is from somwhere stupid, like the diff, possibly, so you'd need to work out what needs to be done about that (assuming it is different). I think the thing you need to realise is that the front end of that yoke is a large hollow tube with splines on the inside that mates with the splines on the box's output shaft. It is a dedicated thing - not available "aftermarket". They were made to suit that box, by the car's OEM.
