Go Frosty

Cheers

Neil.

I'll be keeping a eye on the GT cars,,,. Stuffed if I know why they can't have a longer race,,,I know,,,piss the utes off and let the GT's have a 2 hour enduro.

I noticed Tony Alford ran around on Thursday in the 35 in P1 but nothing after that. Wonder why?.

Cheers

Neil.

I agree Neil, The utes shit me, give proper race cars a run, they need to bring back the 3 hour event they had when the like of Bowe and Stokel were running around in Ferrari and Lambos. That was fun to watch.

Very quick lap,,,but it was done in practice,,,so I don't think it counts.

agreed....but since murphy's lap was in qualifying not racing it doesn't count as a lap record either.

nothing can ever take away from murphy's lap, it was done years of development ago and stood for ages. amazing.

Well actually Murphs time was done in the top 10 shoot out,,,from memory he beat John Bowe much to the dis-like of the Ford fans (Mel and I were there) and Qual times do stand.

It's very disappointing that the GT cars which are real endurance cars only get to play on Saturday with 2 x 30 minute races.

Cheers

Neil.

GT are lucky to get 2x 30min races with cockrane handing out the session times. there are no holdens nor fords in that field so they are lucky to be there at all.

Tony's perfect Bathurst event:

Supertaxi 1000

konica supertaxi race

muscle car support race (group A and C cars stay home, minis not welcome in case they win)

saloon car support race

aussie race cars (aurion not welcome)

commodore cup if a 5th category is required.

what a pity for him that Fraud and Holdem aren't willing to put up millions a year for his circus any more.

I hate to see what the "car o the future" looks and performs like.

Oh,,,won't that be great,,,Nascar style cars running around on shit narrow street tracks. Shit I can't wait.

Take most of the aero out of them and make these robot drivers,,,DRIVE....

Cheers and thanks Cockren and Skaifie.

Neil.

Too right.

Can't take anything away from these cars though, as much as I hate the formula. My word they're fast considering what they are.... heavy, under tyred, shit aero etc....

11" slicks (280/680R17) doesn't count as undertyred in my book! They've been bleating about it long enough to convince people its small though... :P

they are faster than they should be on paper though. I guess that's what ~20 years of chassis and shock development money buys you... oh, and the best drivers in the country doesn't hurt either

sh$t, your completely right, i was under the impression the tyres were a lot narrower than that.

they still weigh around the 1200kg is that correct?

murphy's lap was also done when the engines had a much shorter shelf life so they could beef them right up and it didn't matter if they only lasted one race. the current cars have been tuned down to make the engine last more than one race, like F1. if you look at a majority of the lap records in F1 you will see that they were set back in 2004 and 2005 (about 8 of the records are).

i thought they weigh 1450kg

edit: my bad, 1355kg

    • I agree on doing some better than factory pistons, rods, and oil pump. For anyone using the vehicle on the road, I don't get why everyone wants big cams. The stock cam profile, with some more lift would be mint for road usage. Everyone going big cams and then wondering why it isn't as responsive in traffic, when they've shifted the torque curve upwards an additional 1000RPM. Make torque, at lower RPM. Sure it's not as cool as claiming "500KW" and revving it to 8,0000RPM, but that same torque 2,000RPM earlier... Then you don't need the extremely high end pistons and rods, and blah blah blah.
    • Personal experience. Those f**kers burn. And are actually a PITA to put out. Next time I walk down the back, I'll snap a photo of what the inside of the bonnet looks like when that thing ignites. PS, powder fire extinguishers are useless on that stuff too as it's fibrous and when it ignites, it starts to pull apart. And you end up just blowing powder through a sieve effectively.   Like the big thing is, if it's fire resistant, it's job is to stop what burning? The METAL above it? It's just to try keep heat off the bonnet paint work.
    • Oh man, sorry, $60.00000000... 😛
    • That's more or less what he meant. What it really means is that you do not have to go full crazy on the build. Don't need the best oil pump, expensive rods & pistons, big cams, etc. You can upgrade whatever you want instead of using stock level items, but you don't have to. Having said that - any time an RB is opened up, if anything is getting replaced, I think the opportunity should be taken to do all the sensible upgrades. Pistons, rods, pump, etc.
    • February update 🙂 We managed to get the very last 1/18th "Extra Scale" cars stock available from bookstores in Kyoto. These are actually the last ones and will not be restocked again! Hachette Collections Japan have not decided on a release date for these or other models in the series, so for the time being these are all there are available new.  These are showing up on Yahoo auctions at inflated prices already (especially the Celica and NSX) so get yours now at a very reasonable price before they disappear!
