spent some time today trimming the areas left over from the old roof panel. result. new roof panel fits perfectly!!

placed an order (via japan) for some trim related stuff and new inner door handles. given that nissan is operating on a 4-5 day delay at the moment it should work out that I see this mid july with the rest of the shop orders.

hopefully by late AUG ->SEPT this thing will be sitting in a panel shop ready to be put back together. (if the local markets stay up and allow me to make $$)

usually under it after work or on weekends. latelyI have too many cars around it to do any serious work on it.

I can show you one thursday night if you like.

I now have a R32 GTR tank/straps and pump in my possession. also picked up another dash as well.

:) , since you in the habit of collecting Dashes

sounds good, either Thursday or Wednesday :) during or after meets.

don't' need one :) I am in the process of building a nismo 33 style dash for it. no TACH but it has a 4.3" LCD in place with a HKS CAMP2 atached to it.

got some more stuff today for it:

front reo

GTR front harness (this will fix my burnt fuse box)

front ABS sensors

a second front wiper cowl panel

FRONT A/C lines.

a second AC condensor.

I think WHIZZN got some more done on his as well.

also started working on the cruise control for this car (yes it will have one.) looked at a J30 maxima for the switch and light panels (cluster.) . the swtich fits in the GTST holes on the dash. the light panels I have yet to try. at worst it will be a cut/shut job.

yet to do the actuator side of it. would like to find a GTST/GTS4 with a factory cruise wheel before I resign myself to using a maxima one.

was actually going to pm you about a cruise control setup, as im interested in one for my 32. Interested to see how it all comes together. Was going to start working on stripping mine now im on holidays, but managed to separate two ribs from the cartilage in my chest...means no work being done now

cruise control for me is a complete custom job. my first approach is to pull the ENTIRE thing off a J30 maxima and work with it. if I do that then I can acess the unit via consult and do diagnostics on it. the other advantage is that the maxima unit is electric so I won't have vac problems trying to drive the thing.

second approach is to talk to my cruise control maker and get them to customize a module for me. the end result (from the outside) will be the same but with aftermarket units.

couple of picces of today's efforts.

2nd hand wiper cowl panel. this one is in far better condition than the other one I have. the white stuff is armor all. I give things like this a bath in it to renew them. the plastic bag is from the front bumper.

front GTR bumper now sitting in place. mate of mine pinched the box that it was in. behind that is a 2nd hand GTR reo bar. (thanks whizzn!!)

rubber seal - again 2nd hand and in far better condition than what I had. the harness and fuse panel in there is also R32 GTR (2nd generation) this fixes the burnt GTS4 harness I have currently. if the GTR one is close enough I may use it in place of mine.

Cool...

I got HKS F-Con ECU and is also thinking about the CAMP2, will pick you brain about it when i see you in Club event the next time

for those nutty enough to be looking at the idea:

cruise control

R32-cruise-cont-parts.pdf

there is a catch from what I can see. there are 4 harnesses for this car. mine has the extra plugs for the cruise units inside and tucked away on the harness outside so its definitely doable on this car. yet to ask nissan japan about what is still available though.

the overlay panel from the maxima is too small so thats not going to work. would be nice to find a used cluster that had the cruise overlay in there. I somehow do not like my chances there.

    • Hmm. Yes. I should have been clearer. 1000s for Haltech, for extra headroom. 725s for Nistune. You might even be OK with 640s, but if the possible power ends up much more than 300 rwkW you will run out of headroom on the 640s. That would probably be OK and a signal to not push it to that sort of power with Nistune anyway. At that level you probably do want to be thinking about engine protection functions. Oh, and all of that presumes 98 only, not E85. Well....the 1000s would allow you to run E85 at ~300rwkW territory, again, maybe sort of running out of headroom. Hard to tell with E85 - depends on the tuner as to how rich they like to set it up.
    • Yes.  The only scenario I can imagine when the answer isn't yes, is if you drive like there is highway patrol behind you at all times.  If your car currently runs, enjoy it and keep saving. Better costs more, keep saving until you can budget the better ECU. It's worth it.  Nope. Plenty of us making >300kw on unopened motors. Mine is unopened and makes about 350kw if I turn everything up, its fine (lots of caveats here, how the car will be used/abused, how long you expect the engine to last between rebuilds, how has the engine been maintained prior to coming into your ownership, etc etc).
    • Sorry just wanting to clarify, at this power goal, which should I be going? Also, More info regarding suspension, the rear upper camber arms were used to get the camber back to i believe around -0.5 ~ -1 degree (@ Road and Race in Rydalmere), I forgot the exact figure, but ALOT less camber than what it came originally which was like -2.5degrees. Are the traction arms still recommended? The bilsteins from SydneyKid, they've got 400lb/in fronts & 275/in in the rear, revalved to his specs. Intercooler, I'm just having a look at some on Rakuten.jp and some other japanese sites. Might get something from back there, GReddy, Blitz or HPI, all crossflow. Looking at roughly $450-$500 AUD + shipping... Theres not many choices except that chinese branded Justjap unless you go for blitz return flow. Yeah, only downside with Haltech is the price ahhaha, so expensive, and with all the sensors if I go that route... $$$$$ yeesh. Are headstuds/gaskets needed for <300akw?
    • Haltech fanboi reporting in. Buy the Haltech!
    • You can try shoving a borescope down there to see what's up.
