Just wondering if you can take the outer plastic off the headlights of a R33 ? They are dulled & yellow looking , have tried cleaning them with a headlight restoring kit but still not happy with them. Can you replace the old ones & buy new ones for them , or do have to buy the whole light assembly ? Which costs a small fortune !

Whole headlight assembly or buy glass ones from the group buy I am organising.

When looking at the lights when the bonnet is up the lights have two metal clips , which i thought u could undo & take the outer plastic off the light. If not how do i buy the glass lights off u then ?

First of all, to take the plastic lense off, you've gotta bake it in the oven. Second of all, I think it's cheaper if you take those lenses to a headlight restoration place, it cost about $100-200 for both headlights to be restored, and what they do is they take the lense off and sand it back, so all the yellow crap is sanded off and it is finished with a polish.

Yes you can take the plastic lenses off. However you can not buy new OEM replacements.

In the group buy section there is a group buy I am organising on the worlds first aftermarket R33 glass headlights. However you will have to wait a while until they go into production.

Is this done yet? or still in process?

Still in development. Have a look in the group buy thread.

ive seen some people just take off the plastic and leave it off.

I have seen it in real life. While from a front view it doesn't look to bad, as soon as you get on an angle it looks hideous. Just a massive hole from where the cover should have been. Not my cup of tea.

Also fairly sure it is illegal.

Let me know if you find any better cause I've tired restoring mine and i'm still not happy with the way it's turned out...

The glass ones sound awesome!

How the f.......? I tried this, and found out that the whole lens has a "tongue and eve" join the whole way round, with urethane/sikaflex etc holding it, and was damn near impossible to remove without butchering the headlight???
