Are we allowed to organise a cruise up this way? Or does it have to be down there?

As i've said to strutto, after drag combay (probably fortnight after) we are organising a big meet like the one last year where we had 35 skyrices turn up :P

Lets aim for more eh?

Kudos to strutto for organising a great run. heaps of great looking 'lines, even though we got left behind in the mad rush to the top of the mountain, thanks James for coming back and showing us the way down, James mentioned he was going to be "taking it easy" on the way down, YEAH RIGHT :P !

Got some good pics, just having a bit of trouble figuring out how to upload them here, once I do I'll post here so you all can have a squiz.

NismoGirl I am sure we could top 35, if the 20 or so that made it down plus anyone from the northside came, that would be a great turnout!

Yeah guys I had fun fisrt time I had been out on a cruise since I lost my licence,

Thanks heaps predator for letting me tag along with you. Your a champ.

And everyone else for not even replying to me ha ha its all good.

Hopefully next one i will have my car back.

Hope to see some pics also.

Cyas :P

arh ****, i jsut wrote a huge reply and it stuffed up.

congrants to the organises and everyone that came.

next time, we shoudl bring cb's and stuff so that nobody gets lost. and waiting at the next turn for the rest to catch up. but i didnt have a problem keeping up. was very fun, glad to come on many more cruises.

good to see the gold coast side of people getting bigger.

i reckon if we can get a huge cruise, it would be awesome to get a pic of everyone's rear parker lights in a line of about 40 cars.

Overslept, late for work, Black friday not going so well. On the other hand I had a great time last night, :headbang: first time I've been to one of your get togethers. Kudos to Strutto for organising it.

I turned around because my front right wheel was making some not cool sounds whenever I hit a slightly larger bump. Awesome to put names (and cars) to faces. Looking foward to the next one allready. And nismogirl, what me? drive fast? :innocent: . I'll have to meet you next time you're out.

Well I got this shot but only of the last group of 8 that got left behind, as we had a smoke stop at the top, looks nice, but you can only really make out the first three cars, then it just gets too dark, maybe if everyone had their brakes on, maybe, all good thoughts for next time :)

Was an excellent turn out and good to match some names up...

The sight coming down the hill from bp as we left was crazy, skylines all the way down...

Some of the overtaking methods when we ran into traffic on the mountain were ummmmm'interesting' lol

Was a good run even though we got split up a bit...

I shat my pants when i was catching up after some traffic and did a 180 on a t intersection during the rain, only to look in my rear view and see Aaron do a full 360 lmao that was some slippery ass road there!

yhea was a great turn out. I headed into the city after woulds, and just woke up now. my lines out the front and I dont know what the **** happened, or how I got home. I didnt drive thats for sure.

but yeah great to meet some of the people on this site, it was well worth the drive down, until we got seperated >=[ Have to have a brissy cruise next time.

Yeah, was a good turnout. Wish I had the luxury of just getting out of bed, didn't get home till about 12:30ish and have already finished work, just walked in the door. Nothing that an afternoon snooze won't fix. Don't know when I will be able to attend again, I will be very busy from here on in especially during the week.

Yup.. great night. Good to finally meet some QLD dudes - didn't get to find out who everybody was, but I'm sure over the next few events will get to know some people a bit more.

Some hardcore mountain running which was good, and nobody came acroppa so even better :)

Those from Brisbane should'a come down.. 30mins or so from Brisbane is hardly far, and its just off the M1 anywayz. Was easily worth the trip.

Pity I forgot my digi camera at the last minute.. stupid me.

GO TEAM //GC .. even though i don't live there! lol, although actually i am technically "north" of the goldcoast :(

Wrong James, James...

Erin is talking about BelGarion aka James aka got a slow car but it goes real fast aka I can drive faster than everyone...

Glad everyone had a good time...

Ahh, That explains it. I thought that was weird seeing as I don't know erin.

also sent pm.

Well I have uploaded some pics, but now it seems I cant, I keep getting an erro when I try, so enjoy the first couple here:

Once the rest are uploaded I'll repost the link..........dont know why it isnt working, might try early in the morning when there is less traffic to/from the server....?

    • Yeah the ACL and similar formable heat shielding materials are really nice. But most people do not have the patience or talent to do a good job like that. Almost anything is better than nothing though. Even if you didn't form it closely like that and just had a slab of it slipped in between the manifold and somewhere/thing you wanted to protect, you would gain benefit. There has to be a market opportunity for people like Artec to make formed heatshields to suit their cast manifolds. The fact that they are cast means that they are consistently the exact same dimensions and they could add bosses to the castings like you see on stockers to allow heat shields to be firmly attached yet floating away from the manifold itself.
    • I've seen some stuff like this as well, not sure if it's a good idea or anything but it does have more standoff from the piping than the conventional fiberglass wrap:
    • Jap premium will be 100 RON. You should use 98.
    • The exhaust gases are at their highest temperature as they leave the exhaust port and enter the manifold. They cool as they flow through the manifold because they transfer heat to the manifold and the manifold loses heat to the surrounding environment. Thus, inevitably, the exhaust gases are cooler as they enter the turbo compared to when they entered the exhaust manifold. So, yes, the exhaust manifold can easily get as hot as the turbine housing. Having said that, you will generally see the highest temperatures where the exhaust gases have to slow down or they are concentrated into one area - which is usually the collector on the manifold and in the turbine housing, because the gases slam into the metal at those places, increasing the convective heat transfer coefficient and transferring even more heat to the metal than they might just flowing past elsewhere. Exhaust manifold heat shields are a good idea - certainly for the stock manifold they are there from the factory. People seldom have anything like that on a tubular manifold because they are hard to achieve. Some might wrap a tube manifold with fibreglass tape - but this has a reputation of leading to cracked welds. The best case is generally to put ceramic coating onto the manifold to prevent it getting as hot (internal coating) and radiating/convecting heat into the bay (external coating). All the real heat from a turbo comes from the exhaust side. The gases entering are at ~800-900°C and the steel/iron gets nearly that hot. The compressor side is only going to heat the charge air up to <<200°C (typically not much more than 100°C). So that's nothing, by comparison. The compressor is not a significant source of engine bay heat.
    • Late to the party, specifically joined this forum as I just bought one of these and this thread has been a gold mine of info. If the OP is still around, mind if I ask what gas you been putting in yours? Mine has a Japanese sticker in the cap saying premium but it seems to get way worse mileage on premium (95) than 91. I always thought it was meant to be the other way round🤷 I do think Nissans claimed "6l/100km" is a bit fantastical 😂
