Hey guys, my names glen. im actually 17, go to school still and own a 200sx s14. its done shy of 115 000km's. all stock except for a 3inch stainless turbo back exhaust, 3a racing pod filter and hybrid hdi intercooler. all of it has been paid for by me :D the car is in perfect condition except for being automatic. thinking of selling this and buying an r33 manual though. just to get a bit more power, a manual without spending heaps and i like the skyline body shapes :)

and yeah, thats me :D

Cheers guys

S14 + R33 5 speed gear box conversion = Win!

Or just get a manual S14 gear box.

I was looking into both of these options, but. they both really required me to spend a fair bit of money that i dont have, and it would still put me behind in terms of power with an r33.i've only recently done the front mount on the s14 and i would say, its done near to nothing performance wise. and ive had it tested for leaks and its fine. apparantly its just the auto draining power and the bad auto gear ratios. but, a conversion to an s14 manual. $2500. to an r33 box, close to $4000 to get it done right :D so, might just sell the s14 and look for a clean r33 manual?

cheers for the replies

Did you get a tune done after installing the front mount intercooler?

You might have a slight lag in boost / power due to any extra piping you needed for the front mount intercooler...

Maybe run 1 or 2 PSI higher then stock.

Did you shield off your air pod or atleast have a cold air intake feeding air to it...

R33's are "best bang for you buck" type of car, but I hate the look of them and surprisingly, you coming from a Silvia background and being on NS like me as well, they hate R33's

I would rather a R32 GTS-T or a R34 GTT, for RWD, besides that GTR in the Skyline range :)

But yeah if you are chasing after more power the RB25DET will be good for that.

Cheers for that good reply ;) im sure there are a few things i couldve done to get a bit more power, like sheilding the pod and stuff, and tuning. but..i dont really want to plough money into it. it being auto at the moment is also very annoying :P

and ive noticed, everyone on NS hates r33's  but, i do quite like the shape :) always wanted a skyline, but got the silvia as it was cheap and great condition :) now, i really want a manual and power, my chance to get a skyline :/ but yeah, might go for the rb25det route with an r33 :) theyre cheap, theres a lot in good condition and, manual without having to spend heaps on a conversion :P

The performance of a R33 is decent, the usual power / suspension / wheel and brake mods and you get a decent power out put.

You still can make a R33 GTS-T looks decent, as you know, just work on the stance and a decent fitment of wheels and it look alright :)

I guess you can sell up the S14 and go the R33.

BTW you got the S14A (updated) front?
