This thread is linked to an earlier topic relating to performance workshops in Perth ...

I was at Barbagallo a couple of weeks ago and met a guy who has a full blown 'Sports Sedan' 180SX with fibreglass panels and a fully stocked RB25/30 (same engine as mine) with solid lifters etc. pumping out over 600bhp ... apparently gets all his work done at Performance Unlimited.

I'm confused ... has anyone actually been told by them that they don't do imports? I'm looking for somewhere to get work done on mine and don't want to be a cash cow or guinea pig (again). Having issues with high oil pressure pushing oil into the catch can, out of the breather and into the engine bay. Not cool when you're coming onto the straight at Barbagallo and the rear steps out because the tyres are covered in oil!

What exactly is the question ? Do you want to know if anyone has used Performance Unlimited ? There are plenty of performance workshops around who could provide similar advice.

Have you read the thread on Oil Control ? Do you have oil restrictors etc ?

Yeah cheers I'm reading that thread now ... still deciding over oil control or dry sump conversion. All down to $$ I guess.

Previous question was related to whether or not anyone has been told by Performance Unlimited that they don't do imports coz I'm pretty sure they do ...

You could also just look at an AccuSump as a middle ground.

Tell Performance Unlimited it's a VL Engine and I'm sure they'll be able to help :( Best to go to someone who wants to work on imports though.

Was it a yellow 180sx by any chance??

yeah man I get it ... any recommended suggestions? (these guys actually were recommended to me by someone at the track)

If your car is heavily modified and your not a mechanic then you'll understand that it's hard to find someone trustworthy that knows what they're doing and actually gives a shit about doing a good job, the first time!

Thanks for your input guys ... after reading the other threads it would appear that this is a fairly well known problem (to everyone other than my engine builder).

I am weighing up the options of going to a dry sump setup which most race cars have anyway ... then I have a solid fix for the issue and more flexibility with the engine also.

Thanks again, much appreciated.

What category of racing are you planning to compete in ? Steve Myburgh runs in Sports Car but there are a few other cars prepped by HyperDrive than run in other race categories. Also LF Performance and ProRace build and work on alot of race cars too.

Drop me a PM if you like and I'll give you my personal opinion.

Steve Myburge has all his work done by Steve Thomas and Jeff Thomas. Jeff built that engine and Steve Tuned it. They also prep my race car

Steve did run Sports Car in 2009, now Sports Sedan.

Here is some incar footage from Steve Myburge

Finding a decent machinist is quite hard nowadays.

Performance Unlimited and Ranch will do everything I want except the crank mods. Looks like it will be Southside for the crank mods and then most likely Ranch for the rest of the work.

im hearin ya man.. Wouldnt trust anyone else to do my machining now days after using John at ranch for the last few jobs, top bloke who's happy to spend some time with you to get it right. Southside's would be my second choice too

I would give everything to Ranch but he won't weld my crank up :worship: Have heard many good reports though and he is my pick for the rest of the work :)

Are these guys not Performance Unlimited? Do I have my wires crossed somewhere?
