Don't mean to be rude but your expectations are a little high, I am not sure if that setup will produce that kind of power.

I'M NOT REALLY SURE. IM NOT JUST PUTTING A TURBO IN I'M DOING A FEW OTHER THINGS TO. NISTUNE COMPUTER, FORGED PISTONS, CAMSHAFT, VSLVES PORT AND POLISHED, INJECTORS, AND WHATEVER ELSE I CANT THINK OFF. BUT TO BE HONEST I DONT KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. I'LL POST UP MY BEFORE AND AFTER DYNO RESULTS WHEN I GETG THEM.

arnt these setups really laggy?? non responsive?
I SUPPOSE THERE WILL BE LAG, BUT ILVE GOT A GT3082 WITH THE HOUSING BROUGHT OUT OR SOMETHING. ITS GOING INTO AN AUTO SO I'M PUTTING IN A STALL CONVERTER OF ABOUT 2500RPM, MY MECHANIC SAYS THIS SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO SPOOL UP THE TURBO AND BE BOOSTING FROM THE START LINE. I'LL LET YA KNOW WHEN I GET IT BACK.

looks like i've got a few people interested in this now. Does any one know of anyone else running this setup. I don't know of any others in tas. Just spoke to my mechanic on the phone and he said the turbo is in and very tidy. He's just waiting on some engine parts then we can slap it back together and throw it on the dyno!

Don't need an intercooler as the turbo is at the very back of the exhaust system. It replaces the muffler. And because the air intake will be pretty much straight off the turbo it will be stone cold air. I live in tassie which means the air is generally very cold.

ah, my mechanic thinks we won't need one, it should cool down alot on it way back up to the engine but we'll see how it goes. If i need one i'll get one. Or if it's gonna improve performance i'll likely get one.

These turbo kits sound like a great idea for a non turbo car no changing manifold etc. Was your engine originally n/a?

And as for room in the engine that really wouldn't be an issue in any skyline as all shapes have come in turbo format.

These kits do sound interesting so even I am looking forward to your relsults.

However given you will need fabricated inlet piping you should throw an intercooler on there. Just by a used gtr one for a couple of hundred bucks. I doubt the piping will cost too much extra given you will already have to get fabricated piping made up.

Post up updates when available.

I'm still trying to get my head around the whole thing.

would this setup be incredibly laggy?

givin such a long intake path, espicially with an intercooler in there...

And would there be a major change of exhaust pressure to spin the turbine due to the increased distance from the "bang"? But then the gasses would have cooled down considerably before hitting the turbo...

They seem to do ok on auto cars with big stall converters in the states, but they have all been on 350+cube V8s, might work ok on a drag car, but would be horrid with a manual gearbox.

Either way I cant see it building boost at 2500rpm with a GT3082

    • Ah, fair enough. For the IAT, I'm using a legit GM sensor that was used on the car prior to my current build. I'll get another wideband and IAT ordered and follow up when they show up. Thanks for the help.
    • You shouldn't need to massively fatten up the mixtures for cold conditions. For one thing - 0°C is not that cold. For another, the Haltech will be using the IAT sensor to tell it how dense the air air, and calculate the correct amount of fuelling. Then the cold start enrichment is added as a % on top of that, so it should scale with the main fuelling. You might also doubt the IAT sensor at this time. You're not using one from an RB26 are you? Using a nice Bosch sensor or similar? Happens. Some wideband units take great pleasure in killing their sensors. Put another wideband in the tailpipe and compare. Or just swap the sensor to a brand new one and see.
    • Oh, my misunderstand. When the car was running, it sounded ok, but if I gave it any gas it wanted to die but caught itself afterwards. It's very different from how it was a couple months ago when it was warmer outside. The logs show that the AFRs are better during, what I assume, is warmup enrichment. Because it's cold, and air is more dense, should I work on the enrichment bit?
    • yess of course im not using 2nd hand parts from my spare engine, but the place where i live is hard to find parts for the RB20DET ,but for the RB20E is everywhere including new ones and a lot cheaper ,because for the RB20DET you have to order it overseas to get one and it cost a lot of money 3x the price to be exact. so i ask this topic because if i can use the new ones but for RB20E is it compatible or not. if not im screwed haha, not totally screwed but i have to save a lot of money first before i can begin repairing my engine, thanks for the information before.
    • Unless my sensor just died, was only a couple months old, I strongly believe it didn't. How can I test it? I never mentioned it being 20:1+?
