Hey All,

Just wanted to know if anyone has been to EPA in the last week or two with an R33

I just had some questions.

*what mods did you keep on your car to pass.

*what mods did you remove to pass the test.

*would i pass with a pod filter, front mount and a aftermarket catalytic converter.

everthing else is stock on the car.

Thank you all for reading and helping me out.

Great stuff boys,,,good to see we work as a team to help out a fellow Skyliner.

Wouldn't it be great if we could actually store these items somewhere for all to use.

I have a snorkel that I can lend but I need it back.

Cheers

Neil.

you will need standard airbox for sure .. and standard exaust , you might get away with the cooler .. and get rid of the bovs if you have one .. i had to go there in my old s14..

get exhaurst tested you are allowed to "fix" you exharust so it does not have to be stock i just has to meet the requirements, fmic will have to come off unless you have engineers certificete, pod filters depend on the inspector as none of the factory polution gear is removed on a turbo car when you fit pod filter( some cars use the air box as noise polution, turbos do not) and as long as it is securly mounted some inspectors will let you keep it.

im going through this at the moment - ive figured out what works and what doesnt.

i did everything except the fmic (because ive got a front facing plenum) im waiting to see if they send me a defective vehicle notice.

- my exhaust passed with 84db (standard exhaust with restrictors through it)

- must be a non-hiflow cat

- standard airbox must be in place

- carbon canister must be connected and functioning (mine just looks like it is)

- FPR must be standard

- ECU must be standard (but they hardly ever check)

- turbo must be standard (mine isnt but i put the standard heat-sheild over it)

- you can just block off the BOV, as long as it doesnt vent to atmosphere you will pass.

you can even have a catch can as long as it doesnt vent to atmosphere. the DECC guys dont look at anything other than things that will effect emissions.

DECC is the EPA

They changed the name from EPA, to DECC to make it sound like the government was taking climate change more seriously.

So when i want to "DECC" in campbelltown to noice test what is that called

    • Great info @tidi0x  Will definitely be handy for others and maybe me if I decide to keep the shit box H pattern.
    • Bumping this up one last time.... I wanted to follow up on the clutch slave issue. I realized that what the issue comes down to is the pocket is flat milled, and the cylinder does not want rest flat. So in order to mount it correctly you will need to make a spacer for the fingers so the cylinder is floating. I took two plates of aluminum, drilled some holes and was good. I did still need to make the relief cuts in the bell housing, as even with the spacer the bleed section still interferes. The OE bell housing the mounting holes are raised from the housing.
    • If the event in USA goes ahead will be interesting as it seems the rules will get more cars over here. Apparently the track is laguna seca too. Yeah s15, if I get a the lower dash trims, centre console and change front cross member to standard LCA position will fit clubsprint. See how rules are as i would rather do complete widebody than a bolt on flare to run the 295 with proper clearance.
    • If the car is legal height I can't see it being an issue. Found a thread on reddit that might offer some insight.   I got a ticket from a copper in QLD for my S15 being too low. They had this wheel thing on a stick that they put under the car and it hit my exhaust. Anyhow went to an exhaust shop to get the exhaust tucked up/hung a little higher and I wound the coilovers up a smidge. Don't think I even had to go back to the police station unlike when I got defected for having a carbon bonnet when I brought the S15 from the ACT to QLD and had to replace it and then rock up at a police station and have a yougish female officer who knew nothing about cars confirm that I had changed bonnets. Should have just painted the carbon bonnet yellow to match the rest of the car lol
    • Id like to race in the US i think alot of those track would suit me   For the s15? Youd be stuck between club sprint and the new Open Am wouldnt you depending on how much interior you have left in
