Hey guys n gals

Well as most of you may know, I'm 16 - And i haven't got my L's yet due to lazyness. However i'm going to go get them within the next couple of weeks. My parent's cars are both Auto, so chances are i'm going to have to drive Auto until i get my car. Before i get my car i want to know a bit more about how to drive manual. I know the basics - Changing up and down, however i don't know much else, such as what to do when you're on a hill and stuff like that. Is there any way for someone to tell me the basics?? I know its best you learn out on the road in a car but i'd like to know a bit more and some tips'n'tricks about driving manual before i go and try it for myself

Cheers,

Ryan

Don't stall the car!

(that looks really bad on a driving test :uh-huh: )

hehe

for a hill start, just start to release the clutch like you normally would but with one hand on the hand brake. As you feel the clutch engage, release the handbrake slowly and take off, so you get no roll-back.

ummm what else (it was a long time ago when i took my test LOL)

keep your hands on the 10 to 2 position on the steering wheel, and when you change gears always return them to this position...don't leave one hand sitting on the gear knob.

when you're coming to a stop at lights, always change down all the gears properly. Don't leave it in third and coast to a stop.

Make sure you take your foot all the way off the clutch after changing gears so you're not riding it at all.

That's all i can think of for now, they're all things they'll be watching for when you take your test (in regards to a manual car anyway) there's all the other general stuff as well regardless of whether it's auto or manual, like checking your mirrors, indicating etcetc...

Wear a really short skirt when you take the driving test.

It's not really that hard........

Actually, I had a shocker a couple of weeks ago. I was moving a 4 door gts-t & I couldn't drive it for sh*t, I was bunnyhopping & stalling all over the place.......Very embarrasing.

The short skirt is so true. I was at the Transport Dept

the other day paying for my boat lic. and this 16 year old

or 17 year old chick walked out with her testing guy and

was wearing a shirt so short you could see the bottom

of her bum......

Se wasent bad either... I bet she passed.

Then again maby he was gay???

or even rent a car from avis... i think its around $50 a day, of course in manual:D

u need a credit card, or $1000 cash deposit... and get ur mom to do all this for u (its cheaper that way i think... rather than 16year old boy wanting to rent a car ... keke)

and yeah, now for the fun bit, get one of ur mate who can drive a manual and get them to teach u.... and when taking rest, get them to teach u handbrake turns, hill toe, how clutch smells when burnt... and all those things that u would never do in ur own car :)

u have a car for whole 24 hour before returning it to avis, for $50 and petrol...

thats how my friend learnt manual..
