Im setting up an e85 tolerant fuel system for my car to support 700hp, my plan was to run an 044 off an alloy surge but I wasn't sure if I should go stainless. What materials are people using for their e85 surge tanks, if alloy can it just be anodised, or is bare alloy fine?

Also, Bosch don't seem to recommend their pumps for ethanol, are there some available that are recommended? I'm running a Tomei 33 gtr pump at the moment with no issues, this will remain as the lift pump. Will one 044 flow enough ethanol anyway?

I definitely don't want to blow $1300us on a pump. The engine internals are costing less than that. Worst case twin bosch 044's would be $400.

Anyone running ethanol actually checked their alloy surge tank? I made a small alloy primer tank which has started corroding with just petrol in it.

well how big is your turbo? how much psi are u running? these are things that i have come arcoss on my e85 set up. im currently on t72 with twin pumps with a relay and that is working on my set up at 600 hp.

I havent built the engine yet. Its a VQ35, will most likely have eagle rods, CP pistons and a GT35 external gate. Im building this engine slowly as a backup, just trying to sort out the fuel system first.

it's extra money and effort to be legally able to recommend you equipment for ethanol. it needs to be tested an engineered etc. at the moment it's a small part of the market so companies aren't bothering.

anything that is methanol compliant should be fine

:D

you are most likely going to have to have 2x 044 pumps and 1600cc injectors to give some headroom.
